Job description
The post of CRU Laboratory Technician will involve the collection and processing of biological specimens and clinical data, and recording of this information onto any study specific documentation.
The post holder will also be responsible for maintaining the laboratory stocks, supplies and equipment monitoring.
The post holder will also have a prominent role in quality control procedure upon the unit, such as assisting with the creation and review of trial specific documentation.
The following responsibilities are performed according to standard operating procedures within the CRU:
- Prepare samples for processing (labelling and racking of tubes) and prepare study specific documentation prior to patient visits
- Collection, processing (including centrifugation and pipetting), storing and shipping of biological specimens according to protocol requirements.
- To perform specialised lab sampling procedures such as PBMC processing (as per trial demands)
- Liaise daily with various couriers for sample collection and dispatch and
and overseas shipment..
- Access data/information from Trust information systems as required.
- Monitoring use of sample kits and other consumables for use in CRU studies.
- Performing routine laboratory duties such as making solutions, cleaning

- Perform quality control of lab documentation such as daily sample
- Assist with creating new study specific lab documentation in accordance with study protocols and trial demands
