Job Purpose:
Undertake a standard range of analytical chemistry techniques, as trained and approved, on insulating fluids in accordance with documented procedures and to meet laboratory delivery timeframes and quality objectives.
Overview of Main Responsibilities:
o Carry out Check standard Analysis.
o Reporting of calibration and check standard failures.
o Reporting of equipment failures and breakdowns to the supervisor immediately, so problems can be addressed quickly.
o Completion of Shewhart Charts with all calibration and quality check information and report to the laboratory Supervisor or QMS Officer if results are outside of limits before completing analysis.
o Check Repeatability of results and decide whether to rerun samples. Further repeatability failures should be reported to the supervisor for instrumental investigation. At this point do not use equipment until advised.

Job Purpose:

Overview of Main Responsibilities:
- Perform day to day analysis in the sample order instructions prescribed by the laboratory supervisor and in accordance with the LIMS, including Urgent Sample delivery and periodic call out.
- Preview and analyse / reprocess data following checks and review, carry out result data entry into the LIMS and report the out of ordinary data to the supervisor immediately for action.
- The analyst is responsible for their station and processing all daily calibration and quality control processes, including:
o Carry out Check standard Analysis.
o Reporting of calibration and check standard failures.
o Reporting of equipment failures and breakdowns to the supervisor immediately, so problems can be addressed quickly.
o Completion of Shewhart Charts with all calibration and quality check information and report to the laboratory Supervisor or QMS Officer if results are outside of limits before completing analysis.
o Check Repeatability of results and decide whether to rerun samples. Further repeatability failures should be reported to the supervisor for instrumental investigation. At this point do not use equipment until advised.
- Suggest updates for SOPs and documentation following changes in procedure for review and approval in accordance with the QMS processes.
- Maintain working area and instrument cleanliness. Leaving hand over instructions to supervisor and analyst that takes over the station in case of absences due to holidays or analyst rotation scheme. Maintain all records as per analysis SOPs and data handling.
- Dispose waste according to disposal procedures and company policies and operate in accordance with health and safety requirements.
- Identify and contribute to the continuous improvement process.
- Operate within the company procedures and policies.
Essential skills and experience
- A good understanding of Health & Safety regulations, COSHH requirements, ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 operational practices and relevant chemistry
- PC Skills, in particular Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to plan and maximize laboratory outputs.
- Ability to follow detailed operating procedures and carry out tasks in a prescribed fashion and without deviation.
- Ability to adopt a continuous improvement approach to the efficient, effective, and safe operation of a laboratory.
Knowledge
- Proven industrial or laboratory experience in analytical chemistry
- Understanding of high voltage electrical assets
