Laboratory Technician - Aerospace Derby, England

Our network of more than 1,000 laboratories and offices in more than 100 countries, delivers innovative and bespoke Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification solutions for our customer’s operations and supply chains.
Due to continued growth, we now have an exciting opportunity for Laboratory Technician to provide on-site metallurgical testing at our site in Derby. This opportunity will suit someone who is looking at building and developing a strong career within the aerospace industry.
The Role:
- Supporting the booking in of laboratory jobs and maintaining the laboratory logbook
- Processing samples in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), including cutting, grinding, polishing, etching, optical/SEM assessment and Hardness techniques
- Processing samples in line with SOP’s, including microscopic evaluation of Welds
- Ensuring calibration standards are maintained
About You:
- Good IT literacy skills
- Metallurgical experience
- Knowledge of Aerospace manufacturing environment
- Previously worked with superalloys
- Experienced in using modern lean tools and techniques
The Laboratory Technician will be based in Derby where the site offers great transport links to Derby, Nottingham, and the surrounding areas. You will be required to work days and afternoons (shift work). Working 37.5 hrs per week. Some weekend work and overtime will be expected. Working between 2 different locations will be required.
