Job Summary:
As a laboratory technician you will be performing laboratory testing of oncology clinical samples, supporting clinical trials across Europe.
The position is a permanent full time role based Cheadle Royal Business park, Cheadle, Greater Manchester
Weekend/ occasional public holiday working will be required
Accountabilities/Work Activities:
Performs all listed duties to support technical lab staff.
· Understands the use of the pH meter and balance also able to perform QC on each of these and log the QC results in the correct QC manual.
· Ability to file completed morphology slides appropriately.
· Monitoring consumable reagents and preparing new.
· Processing of patient slides for morphology staining
. Perform DNA extraction and biobanking of clinical specimens
. Perform cryo-preservation and biobanking of clinical specimens
. Prepare specimen for Fluorescence in-situ Hybridization
. Prepare reagents and perform QC for FISH procedures
. Participation in laboratory instrumentation maintenance and upkeep
· Laboratory glassware cleaning.
Maintains the department physical appearance to ensure safety and enhance work flow.
· Cleans/disinfects all designated bench tops and phones.
· Follows guidelines for proper cleaning of laboratory glassware.
· Empty all countertop biohazard waste containers.
· Replenishes daily consumable
· Notifies supervisor or designee of inventory needs.
· Performs weekly inventory of listed general laboratory items.
Adheres to all regulatory, institutional, and departmental policies to ensure laboratory accreditation
Experience and Education:
· BSc (at a minimum), MSc (desired) in a life sciences
· Experience of GCP guidelines is desired
Working Schedule:
Tues-Sat 11am-7pm
