Position Overview

Avantor Services provides laboratory solutions to leading businesses in the life science industry.

We have an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join their lab and production operations team at AstraZeneca in Liverpool on a part-time temporary contract.

you will be helping to test theories, improve products, and bring your scientific advancements to the world as quickly as possible.

Location: Renaissance Way, Speke, Liverpool L24 9JW

Working hours: Monday-Friday 9:00-13:00

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Prepping Media and Broth for use by the scientists as well as aliquoting reagents alongside RIG and Red blood cell preparation

• Egg management- The process will include checking the eggs through a process called candling shining a light into the egg and checking its development, and sorting them into categories before sending them to the allocated destination and completing essential paperwork

• Stock management - daily consumable replenishment at the point of use, utilising site inventory system this will include maintenance of lab consumables, identifying alternative products to roll out in the event of supply issues – preventing disruption to science

• Routine decontamination of various lab equipment relevant to the site. You and the team will provide regular glassware and plastics collection as well as wash and autoclave services (steam, dry, or filtration) for the scientists to use within the laboratories you will also be responsible for Laboratory housekeeping, tidying stock rooms, cleaning sinks, etc

• Receipt and unpacking of parcel deliveries, including temperature sensitive and alternatively, regularly check chemical and reagent expiry dates and arrange disposal of any out-of-date material via the correct waste disposal route

Experience Required

• Experience working in a laboratory environment
• Good time management skills, ability to be flexible and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis
• Good problem-solving capabilities and confidence to react promptly to deliver the best service
• Proven excellent customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively as possible
• Proficient in the use of a computer and Microsoft-based software
