As a consultant you will have the opportunity to deliver solutions that help our clients with their pathways to net zero. This will include strategic and site level analysis. It will also include identification of opportunities to operate in a more energy efficient manner. you will have the opportunity to lead tasks and will make a key contribution to successful project delivery. You will work in a team environment, working alongside colleagues, team leaders and directors in various disciplines.

Our services are varied but include:

  • Net Zero Carbon strategies
  • Energy and Resource efficiency assessments (including ESOS compliance)
  • Development of Environmental & Energy Management Systems (ISO14001/ISO50001)
  • Verification of Corporate Sustainability Reporting (including SECR)
  • UK Emissions Trading System and Environmental Permitting
  • Supporting the sustainable design, construction, or refurbishment of buildings (including relevant rating systems)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain a commitment to your personal training and CPD, working towards becoming a leader in your field.
  • As part of project team(s), produce high quality deliverables for our clients (such as, but not limited to):
    • Pathways to net zero carbon (and associated analysis)
    • Energy and carbon audit reports (including associated calculations)
    • Annual Green House Gas emissions reports
    • Analysis of energy consumption profiles to identify problems and/or opportunities.
    • Preparation of applications for various types of environmental permits / licenses
  • Agree project / task duties with your Project Manager and/or Team Leader / Office Principal.
  • Manage tasks in accordance with our company policies and procedures (our management system is certified to ISO9001 and ISO14001).
  • Be responsible for meeting agreed deadlines, raising potential issues or queries with project managers as and when they arise.
  • Maintain excellent client and colleague relationships to help us meet our objectives.
  • With a keen eye for detail, you will be (or become) conversant with a broad range of energy and sustainability issues (including building, transport and process energy)
  • Provide ad hoc support to colleagues as required, contributing to the strength of our company culture.
Qualifications


Required Qualifications

Essential:

  • MSc and/or BSc in a relevant discipline (e.g., energy / engineering / scientific), OR equivalent experience
  • Personable and a ‘can do’ attitude. Able to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and clients.
  • To be able to work as part as a team and collaboratively and co-operatively.
  • Professionalism and integrity
  • A sound understanding of energy, carbon, and sustainability principles.
  • Excellent communication skills – able to correspond effectively with clients, sub-contractors, and colleagues in design teams and other consultancies.
  • The ability to research, collect, analyse and present information in a concise and effective form (e.g.,. drafting reports, or calculating carbon emissions following documented protocols)
  • Competency in key business tools (e.g.,. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Browsers and Search Engines)

Desirable:

  • A high-level knowledge of relevant energy, carbon, and sustainability legislation, particularly in the UK / Europe, and how to audit and assess compliance.
  • 1-4yrs experience in a similar field.
  • Appropriate professional membership based on your experience (e.g., IEMA, Energy Institute, CIBSE / Others). With a desire to work towards Chartered status.
  • Relevant experience. Previous experience in consultancy (or a similar role within another organisation) is preferred but not essential.
    • Note: while this job description is for a “consultant” we will consider all applicants with relevant skills.
    • We would also consider candidates at senior consultant or graduate level. All roles have the opportunity for further career progression.
  • Experience with energy and carbon conversion factors, calculations, and knowledge of relevant standards such as the GHG Protocol
  • Any other relevant industry accreditations
  • Driving license
