Job Description
Summary/Objective
Sherlock currently has an opportunity for a skilled and motivated laboratory technician to support our Biomanufacturing team. This role will directly contribute to ensuring our manufacturing targets are achieved and is expected to support the department as it expands with process development. The role is responsible for preparation of chemistry components for subsequent assembly into diagnostic devices and contributing to the smooth running of the biomanufacturing facilities.
Essential Functions

- Routine preparation and qualification of biochemical reagents for process development and manufacturing, adhering to required work instructions and SOPs
- Support senior staff members with the performance and reporting of laboratory experiments
- Support the installation, validation and maintenance of laboratory manufacturing equipment
- Support the smooth running and management of the laboratory
- Raise any laboratory issues promptly with management to ensure rapid troubleshooting
- Contribute to the maintenance of well-stocked Biomanufacturing laboratories
- High quality of documentation completion in accordance with agreed protocols
- Ensure compliance of laboratory operations with the company’s quality system
- Support the smooth running and management of the laboratory
- Carry out maintenance, calibration and verification of laboratory equipment.

Work Environment
- Offices and cleanroom laboratories are temperature-controlled environments including a low humidity laboratory.
- Work environment is largely laboratory-based with a significant proportion of time also performing office work
- Noise levels do not exceed legal limits
Physical Demands
- The physical demands require ability to life 15 kg/lbs
- The physical demands require may require standing on your feet for periods of time although much of the lab work can be accomplished while sitting.

Required Education and Experience
- University/College Degree in biological sciences
- 1-2 years of relevant work experience in the life science industry
- Experience of a similar role within a manufacturing environment is advantageous
- Awareness of GLP, ISO13485 or GMP quality standards.
- Experience following work instructions or SOPs
- Previous experience of using a variety of laboratory equipment including pipettes.
- Experience using freeze dryers would be very beneficial
- Background knowledge of DNA amplification or lateral flow principles
- Good IT and writing are essential to ensure accurate documentation of manufacturing activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills will aid effective communication and teamwork within the manufacturing team.
