Job description
Are you wanting to make a difference for young learners facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges? Do you enjoy encouraging and enthusing disillusioned young people to try new skills and develop their confidence? Are you focused on proactively supporting pupils to achieve and have hopes and plans for their future?
If you do, then Brian Jackson College have an opening for a Key Worker. The successful candidate will support pupils with Education and Health Care plans, in class and during additional activities such as boxing, mechanics, construction and sports. Key Workers will work closely with the school SENCo to produce and review referrals and EHC plans and develop strategies for pupils with complex needs including social, emotional, and mental health issues (SEMH). Due to the current cohort and needs outlined in the EHC plans, we are ideally looking for a male keyworker.
Our team of key workers also support tutors within small groups or on a 1:1 basis to address the individual needs of all our pupils, all of which need help with behaviour management and self-regulation to overcome barriers to learning. You will be responsible for providing pupils with an opportunity to develop social skills and reach their full potential.
Our Ethos is to offer a fresh start to all pupils where they can achieve their full potential in life. As an expanding college, all of us at Brian Jackson College are proud of the reputation we’ve built as a quality alternative provision for young learners facing permanent exclusion from education. We’ve created a strong community atmosphere amongst all staff members and a school where the pupils and teachers are truly valued and respected.
As part of Yorkshire Children’s Centre, our benefits include a 24/7 employee assistance program, skills development, long-service awards, annual recognition events, social events, and an incredibly supportive team.
All successful candidates will need to have an enhanced DBS check and show their right to work in the UK before starting work.
If you want to make a difference to a young person’s future and support them in reaching their full potential, then this is the job for you. Please get in touch as Interviews and lesson observations can be arranged immediately.
