Job description

Kennel Supervisor

Tutehill Kennels and Cattery is looking to recruit a Kennel Supervisor to support the Kennel Manager in the day to day running of the business. In particular, the candidate will oversee and develop the performance of the Assistant Supervisor and Kennel Assistants, ensuring our daily processes are executed to a high standard.

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated supervisor with strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills and a passion for animals and animal welfare. Whilst you will be trained in all aspects of our business — including customer service, animal supervision, cleaning, dog walking, feeding and administering medication — demonstrable experience managing, supervising, or developing a team is preferred, including the ability to monitor and mentor staff. You will be expected to manage the daily workload of your team, ensuring both that high standards of hygiene are maintained, and health and safety requirements are met. You will work alongside our Kennel Manager to organise and execute staff training and mentoring, producing appropriate records of progress. This is a hands-on role and as we are on our feet for much of the day, often outside and in all weathers, a good level of fitness is needed. As part of this role, you will work in our office and using our computer system you will take bookings and answer queries via telephone and email, in addition to checking-in animals that are boarding with us. Whilst training will be provided, confidence in a customer facing role that utilises telephones and IT systems is vital. Owing to the fast-paced nature of our working environment, you will adopt a confident yet flexible approach in the fulfilment of your responsibilities, providing support to your colleagues as required and ensuring maximum efficiency and quality.

We are offering a contract of minimum 30 hours per week, flexing up to 45 hours during our busy periods. The post requires candidates to be available for work between the hours of 7am-6pm Monday to Friday and 7am-5pm on weekends. Extra hours will be available for holiday cover and during our busiest weeks. As a boarding kennel, school holidays and bank holidays are our busiest times of year. Availability to work during all school holidays and bank holidays is a necessity.

The post is permanent, subject to the successful completion of a probationary period.

The wage is negotiable depending upon experience and is paid monthly.

The place of work is Tutehill Kennels and Cattery on the outskirts of Pica. Owing to the rural location, candidates must have their own transport.

To apply for this role, please send a CV with a covering letter for the attention of Patrick Rogers.

If you’d like to have an informal chat about the vacancy or if you have any questions, please get in touch: 01946 833502
