Fetcher Dog is a UK based dog charity that specialises in taking dogs off the Bosnian streets and a finding them forever homes in the UK.
Fetcher Dog have a rescue centre in Hastingleigh, Kent, home to up to forty dogs at a time and is run by our two founders, Jordan and Stephanie Connor.
At Fetcher Dog, we want to make sure all of the dogs in our care go to the best homes so that they can have the lives that they so desperately deserve. A lot of our dogs have lived through pain and suffering, so it is extremely important to us that they go on to live full and fun lives, full of love.
This role is a vital aspect of the rescue centre operation as it ensures that all our dogs have the best time while they await their forever homes.
Hours and Requirements
Total: 16 Hours per Week
Days: Monday - Friday inclusive
Working Hours:11.00 - 14.00
Hourly Rate: £9.50 per Hour
Skills and knowledge
- To have a love of animals, particularly dogs
- To be thorough and pay attention to detail
- The ability to use your initiative and to be flexible and open to change
- The ability to work well with others and work well under pressure
- Physically fit and agile and the capacity to lift up to 50 pounds unaided.
- Ability to clean to a good standard and to be dedicated, focused and consistent
- Be organised and diligent
Restrictions and Requirements
Much of the work is outdoors, in all weathers. Kennel areas can sometimes be cold, smelly and often noisy. Generally there is limited access to dogs.
A personal or company reference required and a recent DBS check
Day-to-day tasks
- Clean out kennels and cages, changing bedding, sweeping out and removing waste.
- Disposing of rubbish in a timely manner
- Cleaning animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels.
- Washing dirty linen and folding and storing appropriately
- Ground Maintenance ie gardening, fence repair and cleaning gutters
- Keeping areas clean, tidy and free from rubbish
There is also some administration work to do.
This includes:
l Taking telephone bookings
l Dealing with payments and/or donations
l Keeping records of vaccinations, diets, medications and any specific needs or behavioral problems.
l General administration work
l Keeping and maintaining records on the charity’s computer
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 16 per week
Salary: £7.34-£10.33 per hour
