Our client based in Milton Keynes is looking for an individual that is looking to develop their career and knowledge through a hands-on practical role with the opportunity to develop a wide variety of skills. The role will cover a wide variety of disciplines requiring candidates to be multidisciplined and willing to get hands on when tasks require it.

Role
To succeed the candidate must have excellent problem-solving skills and be willing to learn and develop new skills. The role focuses on three main areas: Product development support, Product testing & maintenance.
As a member of the engineering department, you will work closely with project engineers to provide support with new product development and existing product testing. This will involve the fabrication of test equipment and test products. The successful candidate will be given training in sheet metal fabrication techniques including folding, roll and forming. Candidates will also be required to weld and will be trained in multiple welding disciplines including TIG, MMA and MIG.
As an engineering technician you will be heavily involved with product type approval testing. This aspect of the role will involve setting up a variety of test equipment, preparing samples and testing. It's important that candidates hold them self to high professional standards and have good communication skills when testing with external approval bodies.
The role will also include elements of repair and maintenance. This will involve working with maintenance to help carry out preventative maintenance on production equipment. There may also be the need to fabricate new or replacement components for production equipment. This will involve the use of manual and CNC laths and milling machines.
Qualifications
Minimum Level 3 BTEC in an Engineering discipline or
You will be expected to hold at least an apprenticeship in an engineering discipline and/or have significant working experience in Mechanical Engineering or a research, development or test type environment, although, specific training will be available to the right candidate.
Experience in the development and operation of test rigs and test equipment is highly desirable though not essential for level 3 roles
