Summary and Main Purpose:
To delight the customer through the successful delivery of new and/or existing products shipped on time and manufactured to the highest technical and quality standards.
The procurement of subcontract and logistics services at an appropriate total cost and the management of supplier relationship including price negotiation and planning. Maintain purchasing KPIs up to date.
Purchasing of subcontract services required for the efficient running of the operational site and to meet company’s needs.
Your role as a Junior Subcontract and logistics buyer is to purchase and expedite of goods and services. You'll ensure that the right products are delivered to the right location on time and at a good cost.
Understanding the whole subcontract supply chain is important so that you can effectively liaise with suppliers of subcontract services and logistics firms.
Responsibilities & Main Duties
As a Junior Subcontract and Logistics Buyer you’ll need to:
- Ensuring that all subcontract PO’s are raised and manged to meet company sales targets.
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
- Liaise and negotiate with suppliers.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external key stakeholders.
- Identify and report sources of risks from subcontract supply chain.
- Monitor and report supplier defect rate.
- Manage vendor relationships and assist in building effective partnerships.
- Planning with supply chain urgent work.
- Expediting and prioritising work through subcontract supply chain.
- Raising Sub-Con Purchase Orders
- Verify that the Sub-Con data correct before release to supplier
- Despatch and return routes for Sub-Con
- Expediting Sub-Con
- Supplier relationship management
- NCR management
- Invoice process support
- Ensure all department procedures are adhered to in relation to Sub-Con, develop a tracking log of actions to be made visible to the Logistics Manager
- Arrangement of Sub-Con packaging
- Any other duties that may be required to support the needs of the department or business.
- Managing Sub-Con site visitors and third-party support.
- Resolve any arising problems or complaints.
- To ensure that the subcontract and logistics performance measures are up to date.
- To ensure that all necessary documentation and records are correctly completed and filed.
- To maintain relationships with services, logistics suppliers and customer supply chain contacts.
- To track spend on subcontract and logistics, including following the purchase order process.
- To continually improve the cost in use of subcontract services and logistics.
- Expediting subcontract services as and when required by production team.
- Work with HRD to identify and appraise staff including talent spotting, mentor apprentices following structured development plan.
