JUNIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER
The giffgaff Academy aims to uncover aspiring Software Engineers who possess transferable skills & experiences, and empower them with the new skills through a salaried training programme whilst onboarding into their full-time roles with giffgaff.
All you need to do is register for the digital skills assessment today (that's right, no CVs here) and consider your application made. No prior industry experience is required, or even relevant study.

- Virtual Webinar
Once you've registered for the opportunity, you'll be invited to join one of our bi-weekly virtual webinars where you can meet the Hatch team, hear from senior leaders at giffgaff and learn more about this programme's requirements.
- Interview & Hire
If you're successful in the digital skills assessment, you'll be invited to a short preliminary interview with the Hatch team. On successful application to the training programme you will start life as a giffgaff employee with a competitive salary plus pension.
giffgaff Academy: (12 Weeks – Salaried Training)
This phase of onboarding is your training. The academy will develop you with all the critical skills for success as a Software Engineer at giffgaff. These skills include: Pair Programming, HTML and CSS, UX, React, ReactNative - essentially Javascript but the giffgaff way!
The second half phase of your technical skills academy you will move on to Java, including a Java testing framework, DevOps including some focus on Environment isolation via containers and GIT as a key part of the DevOps process.
You will end this section of the academy learning RESTful APIs and Event driven micro-service architectures.
The third phase of your training will see you apply the skills you've already learnt to live projects and solving known business problems. You'll embed your knowledge and understanding whilst preparing to transition into your full-time role as a Software Engineer at giffgaff.
Deploy
On satisfactory completion of the training programme you will transition into live projects with giffgaff on a full-time basis!

How much will I be paid?
Reflecting your existing skills and competencies, the giffgaff Academy programme will pay you a wage of £28,000 for the duration of your training and as your starting salary, plus enrol you into the pension scheme.
Does my location matter?
Whilst the training programme is delivered virtually for part, you will also be expected to attend workshops and events at giffgaff’s offices in Uxbridge. Once you've completed your training, you will be working full-time out of the Uxbridge office, with some hybrid working potential.
