Junior Reporter - Amplify
Citywire Amplify is looking for a reporter to join its growing editorial team. Amplify is Citywire’s publication for the global asset management industry. We provide exclusive data and research as well as impactful journalism for fund businesses. Readers span all of Citywire’s existing markets, from the US and South America, to UK and Europe, South Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
This role will be UK based and will be part of a team that includes correspondents in other jurisdictions. There is work from home flexibility (2/3 days a week in the London office) and there will be opportunity to travel outside the UK to attend Citywire events.
This position will see you play a core role in the production of business journalism and investment writing for our sophisticated readership.
You will be handling research generated by Citywire’s in-house experts and data teams. And you will be writing news and features, sourcing and writing-up interviews, recording podcasts and making videos. Readers are in asset management roles – from sales, to operations, leadership role and fund managers themselves.
Candidates will need to be resourceful, communicative and able to meet tight deadlines with efficient and eye-catching copy.
You will be joining a close-knit and collaborative team. You will sometimes work closely together and at others times be required to work independently and on your own initiative. Expect a mix of regular (daily and weekly) deadlines as well as long term projects. The role will require ability to develop contacts the asset management industry – from behemoth businesses to boutiques.

Main Responsibilities:
As our Junior Reporter, your main responsibilities will include:
- Breaking exclusive and off-diary news on the title’s website using research and relationships.
- Writing compelling features and analysis using research, data and interviews.
- Showing a willingness to develop multimedia content, with the view to presenting podcasts and film in our state-of-the-art media studio.
- Growing a contact book across the asset management industry.
- Coordinating with the wider team on larger projects while also working independently to develop and deliver analysis.
- Developing your knowledge of investment principles including how markets, funds and portfolios function.
- Breaking news that matters to investors and interview high-profile figures fund management.
Job specific skills / technical skills / requirements
- Some journalism experience.
- Interest in financial journalism and a desire to learn.
- An existing understanding and knowledge of finance and its core functions is an advantage.
- Got a language skill? Not necessary, but useful.
- Broadcast and podcast journalism - training can be provided.
- Data journalism skills – likely to be useful to the role.
