Junior QA Tester / Test Analyst
Location: MailOnline Headquarters – London

Job Introduction
MailOnline, the world's leading online news website, is recruiting for a Junior / Graduate tester to join our QA team based in the London office.
The website has over 200 million unique visitors a month and with over 850 editorial and business staff located between offices in London, New York, Sydney and Los Angeles, you will be key in making sure that the Mail Online and associated websites maintain its stability, reliability, accessibility and quality.
You will have a degree ideally in a numerate subject like Computer Science, Maths or Physics, It is advantageous if you have had some exposure to testing whilst at university or a placement but not essential.
Relevant experience is always useful. Obviously, for a junior role we don't expect you to have had bags of experience. But, if you've had a holiday job or placement, or even done something in your free time that's helped you develop the skills you think our business needs, don't forget to tell us about it.
You don't need an IT background but you do need to be bright and passionate about technology. We will provide you with the training and mentoring that you need to be successful in your role.
Working as part of our QA Team, the Junior Test Analyst's main responsibility will be the on-going quality of the product. While most of the time will be spent working closely with our Testers, Project Managers and Developers, as part of a cross-functional Team, Junior Test Analyst should be equally comfortable working on their own. Support will constantly be available.
This is a unique and fantastic opportunity to join a team within the business that is growing at an exponential rate. You will be tested, with continued expansion of the site, offices and staff.
Main Responsibilities
- Shadow one of our senior Test Analyst to gain the relevant skills and experience required for the fulfilment of the job.
- Plan and carry out functional, integration, and end-to-end testing of desktop, mobile, and tablet applications.
- Raise defects using JIRA as our defect-tracking tool.
- Script and execute manual integration, regression, browser compatibility, and SEO tests.
- Execute ad-hoc functional testing on request.
- Report test results to the QA lead and Project Manager
Person Specification
- Excellent communication skills
- Outstanding attention to detail
- The ability to recognise and resolve problems quickly and efficiently
- The hunger to learn and work on your own initiative, but also have the people skills to be part of a team
- Good understanding of the web technology and Internet
- Preferably a degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience, but we will consider candidates from any background,
- Basic skills such as HTML, XML, SQL
- Basic knowledge of any Programming language
