This Junior Project Manager will report to the Operations Manager and will work within Connections, Competition in Connections based in our Crawley, Maidstone, Borehamwood or Bury office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £37,684 plus car and a bonus of 3%

Job Purpose:
The role of the Junior Project Manager involves the management and coordination of a portfolio of LV final connection works, for new connections and network alteration projects installed by Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) across all 3 licence areas in UK Power Networks footprint.
Working with the appointed Field Engineer from Network Operations or a Contractor, the Junior Project Manager requires a sound level of technical awareness, with an understanding of the electricity network to interpret and assess customer requirements. We ask that you have contact with customers to not only ensure a project is delivered on time but also to resolve queries and provide advice on Competition in Connections processes and initiatives.
Principal Accountabilities:
Financial:
Monitor project expenditure and ensure correct allocation of costs
Identify any cost variation and ensure all additional spend is recovered
Undertake monthly project closure checks (RIGS)
Customer / Process:
Agree dates with the ICP/IDNO, Delivery Engineer and auditor for the final inspection and connection of the contestable works, ensuring that projects are delivered following agreed timescales and compliant with SLC15
Collaborate with the ICP/IDNO, auditor and delivery engineer if any work fails a final inspection, taking the lead on agreeing the required remedial works
Obtain and record Conditions Precedent paperwork from the ICP/IDNO consisting of commissioning forms, test certificates, ART Forms and as laid cable drawings, to name a few
Ensure ICP/IDNOs have the correct Lloyds NERS competencies to perform the contestable work
Check that the ICP/IDNO comply with ENA G81 and UK Power Networks standards
Monitor legal issues and ensure legal completion is achieved before connection
Ensure adherence to the SORN process for self-connection work-streams
Help resolve and respond to customer queries, collaborating with other UK Power Networks staff
Ensure adoption process is completed and all asset records are updated
Interface with ICP's on forward planning of connections
Produce reports from SAP and comparing with project data to ensure parity or investigate and rectify anomalies
Qualifications:
Essential
City & Guilds 2304 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
Able and willing to study for the BTEC National Certificate in Electrical Engineering
Able and willing to travel between the core UKPN CiC office locations
A deep understanding of UK Power Networks' electrical distribution system at 400V and a sound grounding of the 11kV network, within the three network areas
Appreciation of the broader Competition in Connections market, especially the CiC Code of Practice work-streams
An awareness of the section's business, environmental, safety, financial, and regulatory obligations (SLC15, SLC12 & SLC52)
Self-motivated with the ability to work in a pressured environment as part of a highly focused team, with minimum supervision to meet tight deadlines
Initiative and problem resolution skills
Develop good working relationships with colleagues and other teams within UK Power Networks and also with external partners
Desirable
Already in possession of the BTEC National Certificate in Electrical Engineering
Nature and Scope:
Competition in Connections (CiC) is managed by the Head of Competition in Connections and is part of the Connections directorate.
You will report directly to the CiC Operations Manager, who in turn reports to the Head of CiC. You will work with several Project Managers, Technical Support Assistants and a Delivery Planning Assistant.
You will complete on the job training and complete several assessments as part of the Connections TAP process.
This role would suit applicants with a base technical knowledge who are looking for their first opportunity to gain experience of project management.
