The Role
Cantium have a fantastic opportunity for a Junior Project Manager to join them to manage a range of small IT based projects. The Junior Project Manager will take full responsibility for the definition, documentation and satisfactory completion of small scale projects and identify, assess and manage risks to the project. They will also manage the change control procedure, and ensure that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off.
We are looking for someone who will demonstrate a commercial awareness and provide end to end financial accountability, including the provision of accurate appropriate & timely budget reporting and client charging.
This role is suitable for a current Junior Project Manager looking to gain more experience or someone who is currently in a Project Support position looking for their next step in their career.
This is a hybrid working role and the candidate will be working from our Kent based offices 2 days per week therefore please consider this before making your application.
Key Duties
- Take responsibility for the definition, documentation and safe execution of small to medium-scale projects, actively participating in all phases of the project. Identify, assess and manage risks to the success of the project.
- Ensure that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and tracks all activities against the plan, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders, as appropriate. Monitor costs, timescales and resources used, and take action where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensure that delivered systems are implemented within these criteria.
- Manage the change control procedure and ensure that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off. Gain agreement for revisions to the project(s) from project sponsors.
- Provide effective leadership within the constraints of the project ensuring that project team members are motivated and developing their skills and experience. Take appropriate action where performance deviates from agreed tolerances. Actively represents the project team, ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained within the business and its customers.
- Define the series and sequence of activities to bring stakeholders to the required level of commitment, prior to go-live.
- Assess risks inherent in proposed changes, to ensure any potential scheduling and performance issues have minimum impact on provision of other services. Seek out and tackle issues that will prevent the delivery of business benefits, facilitating open communication and discussion between stakeholders.
What we need from you
- Prince2 Foundation and / or APM Foundation or working towards
- Experience in a directly relevant field
- Knowledge of structured methodologies and proficient in the application and techniques for Programme and Project delivery
- Knowledge of the functional structure of a business and other organizations
- Familiar with the business environment relating to own sphere of work (suppliers, customers and partners), in particular those aspects of the business which the team is to support
- Proficient in theory, current practice and latest developments in the relevant field of computer science, telecommunications, software engineering or information systems
- Proficient with methods, techniques and tools for planning, organising, resourcing, directing, co-ordinating and monitoring ongoing (non-project) activities
