Britten-Norman is the producer of one of the most successful civil aircraft ever manufactured in the UK & it is now the UK’s only independent civil aircraft manufacturer. The company is also a leading aerospace SME, offering a market leading range of aviation related services both within the UK and internationally.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Britten Norman. We are now recruiting for an Junior Project Manager to join us at our Lee-on-the-Solent manufacturing site as part of our project management team.

You will ensure that your projects are managed effectively by partnering with internal stakeholders to understand and manage potential bottlenecks while actively communicating with customers to provide solutions and manage the relationship. You will develop your project management experience in a fast paced environment with dynamic challenges.

Our project managers partner with all functions of the projects so experience across manufacturing will be developed quickly in this role and previous experience would be valuable.

You will have day one accountability with the support of a team to help continue to progress as a project manager.

Primary Tasks

Main tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Taking an organised approach to monitoring project performance to ensure any issues are dealt with efficiently and in line with customer expectations.
  • Creating detailed project plans which include but are not limited to assumptions, dependencies, exclusions, project schedules, risk registers, communication plans, change management and reporting & monitoring
  • Being a single point of contact to the customer.
  • Building strong customer and supplier relationships while promoting the Britten-Norman brand and improve customer perception.
  • Attending all project meetings, including consortium led projects, and create any material required to ensure the continued progression of the project.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • A project management qualification or working towards a project management qualification would be most suitable for this role but is not essential for success
  • 5 GCSEs including English & Maths at Grade C/4 or above
  • Further education in project management or business would be desirable.

Required Experience

  • Experience in managing projects is key to this role but this could be as part of another role with a view to progressing to a full time project management role.
  • A background in manufacturing or engineering would be beneficial with a background in aerospace being highly desirable although neither of these are essential prerequisites for success.
