Hi, I’m Jonny.
I am the Medical Writer at Innovative Trials and I’ve been enjoying my time here since autumn 2022. I got into medical writing after finishing a PhD in neuroscience. I decided that I much preferred communicating research to being in the lab. I first started at a medical writing agency where I wrote publications and regulatory documents like clinical study protocols and reports.
I moved to Innovative Trials last year to be part of a bigger multi-functional company and to help inform a different audience made up of patients and clinical trial staff.
In my spare time I enjoy trips out with my family and I play rugby for my local club in Hitchin.

I am the first in-house medical writer at Innovative Trials and I have enjoyed working more closely with the team than they were able to with freelance writers. We write and produce materials that are engaging and useful for patients, while working in a regulated environment where a lot of care is taken to make sure patients are well informed.
Seeing what our talented graphic designers can make using the writing I provide is one of the things I enjoy the most.

Due to the exciting organic growth we are currently seeing at Innovative Trials, this position is a great opportunity for someone with a real interest in clinical research, for both the cutting edge science behind new treatments and the practical steps involved in delivering them safely for patients!
A day in the life of a Junior Medical Writer at Innovative Trials will involve providing research support and assisting with the creation of high-quality medical communications content in specific therapeutic areas. You will be working with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to create quality, scientific literature across a range of media so communication is key!
Ideally, you will have a life science degree and a background in medical writing in healthcare and/or a medical communications agency, but if you don’t, that’s also okay. An ability to write compelling and creative writing within the field of science and a passion for the healthcare or medical communications industry is what I’m looking for!
