WITHIN YOUR TEAM:
We are responsible on a European basis for drafting, negotiating, managing and overseeing contracts and commercial agreements for the Marking and Coding entities within the Product Identification Platform of Danaher. This includes a total of 15 entities; among them Videojet Technologies, Clearmark Printing Solutions, Linx Printing Technologies, ALLTEC / FOBA, and Laetus. We support all functions regarding legal questions, including provision of trainings, support in litigation cases, data privacy, compliance, and internal investigations.
As the Junior Legal Counsel you will report to the Senior Legal Counsel Marking & Coding Europe (based in Germany).
THIS JOB IS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO:
You will ensure that the contract process has the right balance of efficiency and risk management by drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements.
You will establish and roll-out standard work according to Danaher’s global standards in the region. These include implementing and revising templates, standard operating procedures, and trainings. You will also provide support for central corporate functions, such as data privacy, compliance, regulatory, and HR on a local basis.
Critical to this role is the ability to scope the legal needs of the business and install efficient processes with minimal disruption. This is a hands-on role where both tactical execution and longer-term strategy are important.
WITHIN YOUR ROLE, YOU WILL:
Gain a solid understanding of the various businesses in order to identify appropriate strategies to facilitate business goals and minimize any potential challenges;
Implement and drive standard processes for commercial contracts and legal work;
Negotiate, strategize, document, and approve commercial transactions, contracts, and other legal arrangements;
Retain a steady positive and professional attitude and an ability to confidently discuss contract terms and legal issues with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers;
Build collaborative and trustful relationships with internal stakeholders and within the legal team;
Assist the business with proactive, operational, and commercial advice to ensure a clear contracting process and successful relationships with suppliers and customers;
Deliver training and advice to drive best practices for legal processes, compliance, and risk management; and
Identify and execute on opportunities for continuous improvement, efficiency in providing legal services to the Marking and Coding companies.

Licensed to practise law within the UK or other European countries;
Proactive in identifying risks and proposes countermeasures/solutions directly, with a drive for learning, self-organization skills, and attention to detail;
A thoughtful and creative problem solver who thinks outside the (legal) box;
A team player who is comfortable handling all types of legal projects and assumes ownership;
Able to work on multiple issues at the same time and prioritize to achieve goals;
Comfortable providing guidance to senior management;
Able to adapt to a fast-paced, high-performance, and lean environment with a culture of continuous improvement in order to find better ways of accomplishing more;
Calm during the storms of daily business, while retaining his/her/their positive attitude and humour;
Unquestionable in their integrity and ethics in all; and
Able to have both a local and global mindset with an ability to make things happen.
EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE INCLUDE:
Prior experience or exposure working within a matrixed organisation, preferably in a (multinational) company;
A law degree from a European or UK law school;
Experience in‐house helpful, but not essential;
Knowledge of commercial law, negotiations, competition law and compliance is required;
Knowledge and expertise in employment law and regulatory matters is desired;
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed;
Second language proficiency would be desired (especially Italian and / or Polish); and
Legal research skills.
