VPZ are the market leading UK based specialist vape and e-cigarette retailer. We currently have over 150 stores across the UK with more store openings on the way. We are looking for a Junior IT Engineer to join our business.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide on-going support over a variety of platforms and in-house solutions
- Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, resolving network connectivity problems, and assisting with software installations.
- Occasionally Provide Support for retail stores over weekend trading ours on an on-call rotation for which you can choose to be paid a flat fee or take time back in lieu.
- Respond to and resolve help desk tickets in a timely manner, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Assist in the configuration and maintenance of computer systems, including desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot software applications, including operating systems, productivity suites, and business applications.
- Monitor and maintain network and server infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Assist in managing user accounts, permissions, and access rights across various systems and platforms.
- Collaborate with the IT team to implement and maintain IT security measures, including antivirus software, firewalls, and data backups.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, making recommendations for improvements and enhancements to existing systems and processes.
- Document technical procedures, system configurations, and troubleshooting steps to create a knowledge base for reference and training purposes.
Essential Skills:
- Technical Support: Proficiency in providing technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, resolving network connectivity problems, and assisting with software installations.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently or with minimal supervision.
- Computer Systems Knowledge: Solid understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking fundamentals.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office Suite, as well as common business applications.
- Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to ensure accurate troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users effectively.
- Customer Focus: A proactive and customer-focused approach to providing technical support, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
- Education: A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a similar role or relevant internships/co-op placements is an asset.
- Security Awareness: Knowledge of IT security measures, including antivirus software, firewalls, and data backups.
- Experience working with technologies such as: Office 365, EPOS Software, SQL, Windows Server, FortiGate
