It’s an exciting time for us here at Hastings Direct as we work towards becoming the best and biggest digital insurer in the UK. To support that, we are expanding our Retail Pricing team, and are looking for a creative, curious and customer-focussed Data Scientist to join us.
We operate in one of the most competitive, data-rich marketplaces in the world and everything we do begins and ends with our data, whether it is retraining existing models to capture latest trends or developing new features to improve our predictions, you'll be up close and personal with the work that makes a direct impact on the day-to-day success of the business.
How you will make a difference:
- Retraining and enhancing current models, which are core to our pricing
- Exploring new data sources and engineering new features to improve our models
- Collaborating with our commercial and marketing teams to provide model-based solutions to enhancing the customer experience
- Learning the practicalities of deploying ML models into production environments
What we’re looking for:
Someone with a passion for taking data and doing something practical with it that really drives benefits for the business and our customers. You’ll need to know your way around an analytical programming language or two, such as SQL, Python or R, be experienced in some supervised and unsupervised modelling/machine learning techniques, and have a solid background in statistics. We’re a fast moving, agile business, always looking to do something new, so you’ll need to be comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and enthusing them with your ideas and insights.
