Job description

Junior Content Writer/Content Intern

Would you like to start an exciting journey towards a successful career in content writing? We currently have an exciting opportunity for an individual who would love to kickstart an exciting career in the marketing industry.

Don’t worry about experience; we’re hiring on passion and drive.

This is an entry-level role that is perfect for a recent graduate or school leaver looking to launch their career or an individual looking for a career change into digital marketing.

Quite simply, we create search-first content that deserves to be seen on Google.

If you fancy seeing your work rank at the top of Google for a range of clients, a career in SEO copywriting might be for you.

As a Junior Content Writer, we’ll train you up fast with an onboarding boot-camp-inspired phase for the first 6-8 weeks. During this, you’ll be learning the fundamentals of SEO and how the tactic fits into the wider marketing mix.

We have an “always learning” philosophy that runs through our team’s core, continuously learning and helping each other develop, with a generous additional annual training budget for continuous professional development.

Applicants must have the desire to pursue a career in copywriting, content marketing and/or digital marketing. Some relevant industry experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided. We’re looking for the right attitude, first and foremost - knowledge and skills can be taught, but commitment and willingness to learn can’t!

Fancy kickstarting your career by joining a team of best-in-class marketers to elevate your career to the next level?

What your responsibilities will be:

  • Writing content for clients from a range of different industries and sectors - including blog posts, how-to guides, product descriptions, category pages, case studies, and FAQ pages.
  • Writing according to briefs written by our in-house team of content strategists.
  • Following the tone of voice and brand guidelines provided by clients to ensure that written content matches their communication style and resonates with their core identity.
  • Writing both long- and short-form content for a variety of functions to support client communications at different stages of the sales funnel - persuading, informing, entertaining, generating awareness, educating, promoting etc. (and working to develop an awareness of the intricacies between each function and how writing styles need to adapt accordingly to be effective).
  • Proofreading content that other writers within the agency have produced - double checking for spelling or grammatical errors as well as ensuring that the overall tone and messaging match that specified in the brief.
  • Carrying out desktop research and analysis to determine what a particular client’s competition is writing about, how they communicate with their target audiences, and whether there are any elements that we should seek to replicate in our writing.
  • Creating content structure outlines for articles, blog posts, and how-to guides - setting out a clear, logical structure for a piece of content that includes strong section headers, relevant FAQs and clear messaging throughout.
  • Engaging in ongoing training and development programmes to finetune your writing abilities, especially in line with SEO best practices and producing content within commercial contexts.
  • Proactively taking on feedback (from both internal and external sources) to continually improve writing.
  • Recognising that Digitaloft’s teams are an extension of our client’s own marketing functions - it’s our job to internalise their brand identities and make them feel that they are at the centre of everything we do. We don’t work for them; we work with them - advising, guiding, listening, learning and improving constantly.

Your skills and experience:

  • An excellent level of written English with a solid command of grammar, spelling and sentence structure.
  • Awareness of how to adapt writing for different audiences and functions.
  • The ability to communicate ideas or messages effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Good time management and ability to manage several tasks simultaneously to deadlines (internal and external).
  • Awareness of the importance of taking complex topics and presenting them in clear, concise terms that are pitched at the right level for a given audience.
  • A team player who recognises how their role contributes to broader business objectives.
  • The confidence to carry out the necessary independent research to write about more technical or unfamiliar topics.
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to notice grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.
  • Computer literate (especially using Google Docs and Sheets).
  • The ambition to learn anything and everything about content writing as a profession and about how a content agency operates.

What we’ll offer you:

  • A salary of between £18,500 and £22,000, depending on experience.
  • Full internal training is provided from the get-go, along with additional 1:1 support sessions on a weekly basis.
  • An annual training budget to spend as you wish to help you progress your career and earn a promotion to the role of Content Executive.
  • Upskill fast with an onboarding boot-camp-inspired phase - expect to get lots of feedback and constructive criticism in the first 6-8 weeks (don’t take it personally or view it as negative; we fully expect you to have gaps in your knowledge and skillset when you first join us and just want to help you to learn the ropes as quickly as possible).
  • Hybrid working patterns (with some face-to-face training sessions and team building days).
  • Work as part of a fun, young and vibrant team that is energised to deliver the best possible content and services for a growing client base of high-profile B2C businesses.
  • Access to professional coaching services to explore issues and interests that can be both role-related and personal.
  • An “always learning” philosophy runs through our team’s core - no question is a silly question, and none of us will ever know it all! We want everyone to feel able to ask for guidance and support whenever they need it.
  • Flexible working.
  • A relaxed but productive environment.
  • An opportunity to attend industry conferences and awards nights… globally!
  • Being part of a team that wants to support your professional growth and see you succeed.
  • Unlimited holidays (subject to passing a 4-month probation period).

How to apply.

If you think you have what it takes to join Digitaloft as a Junior Content Writer, we’d love to hear from you.
