Full Time, Fixed Term for 12 months.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Careers Job Coach to join Bristol City Council’s Community Learning Team.
Bristol Community Learning engages with people who have significant barriers to learning and work. We help raise confidence whilst developing skills and knowledge so learners can progress to further learning and work. We have high aspirations for those we work with and are committed to providing a wide range of courses developed to meet our learners’ needs. Along with high-quality teaching, we are passionate about achieving the best possible outcomes to help our learners succeed.
You will be part of a vibrant team reporting to the Team Leader Community Learning. You will be acting as a key link between the specialist internal and external services that support people with significant barriers to further learning and employment.
Your role will be to support this client group which includes addiction recovery, ex-offenders and those with complex needs to overcome barriers & achieve positive results by coaching them towards employment. These participants often have multiple needs and can live chaotic lives which requires a dynamic and responsive working style.
You will need to be a good motivator, able to inspire and bring out the best in people so that they can realise their full potential. Whilst you will be part of a team much of your work will be independent, you therefore need to be highly motivated, organised and able to manage your own time efficiently. You will also have an excellent knowledge of current LMI (labour market information) as well as being able to source and maintain into work opportunities, alongside networking and making referrals to relevant learning and training options.
Based at the Park Centre in South Bristol, a dynamic community hub which provides a base for over 15 community businesses and training for young people and adults. There is a community café on the site and ample car parking.

For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.
If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.
