Java Software Engineer- Be part of IG's real-time real-world DMA execution platform.

The Direct Market Access (DMA) team is responsible for connecting IG to Equity, Forex, Futures and ETP markets around the world and operate in a 24/5+ environment.
Our software is used by IG's dealing desks, client managers, trading services teams to help clients, hedge IG's risk and monitor our execution systems. We also make parts of it accessible to clients. We provide IG with access to multiple markets through multiple brokers, liquidity providers and venues and all are routed through the DMA and our Order Management System (OMS). The goal of DMA is to be a robust & agile vendor-agnostic layer between IG and our trading venues. We own over 70 applications all working together to facilitate the DMA system.

What you will do:
As a Java software engineer in the DMA Server team, you'll take ownership of your work from elaboration to delivery. You'll take requirements and develop & extend solutions, test them and work with our stakeholders to deliver them.
This will include:
- Interact with our senior developers and architects to analyse needs and requirements
- Design and code solutions to meet these requirements
- Deliver high-quality support and assurance as the work is rolled out
- Ability to grow in the role and take ownership of projects end to end
- Ability to learn and innovate!
What we’re looking for
DMA's technology stack is primarily message based and written in Java. We don't require prior knowledge of, but we make use of, Spring, Akka and Hazelcast.
Critical requirements:
- Driven and engaged with excellent communication skills
- Core Java experience, knowledge of data structures and threading.
- No prior finance or trading experience needed.
- Leadership skills
- Great team motivator
- Effective management of multiple direct reports
- Solid product coaching experience, helping your people perform to the highest standards
- Ability to negotiate, inspire and support stakeholders
- Work alongside key stakeholders, including technology, commercial and operations
- Understand commercial imperatives of how IG products work and the commercial models that underpin them

Where you’ll work
As part of our hybrid working environment, you’ll split your time between home and the office but will require on average 2 days a week in the London office to collaborate with colleagues and the wider Tech Team.
