The Academy is seeking to appoint an innovative, qualified and experienced IT Technician who is committed to supporting a consistently high standard of IT services across the Academy. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting all our IT services.
Chelsea Academy has cutting edge IT facilities. Our network combines being powered by Google in the cloud with on site virtualized servers powered by Windows Server 2016 (Hyper-V) using a CISCO network infrastructure. The Academy has recently purchased brand new classroom and admin PC’s for the entire site as well as providing new staff laptops. We are keen to be at the forefront of IT in schools and are looking for an IT Technician that is passionate about their role and is outward looking at developments for the future. We hope that the successful candidate shares a passion for learning technology.
As an IT Technician you will be expected to support users experiencing a seamless secure IT provision 24 / 7 both on and off site. Chelsea Academy is a rewarding place to work and we look forward to seeking a suitable candidate.

Job Description
PAY Competitive Salary (NJC 18-21) £32 415 - £34 067 per annum, dependent on experience, all year round with 23 days annual leave entitlement excluding bank holidays
WORKING HOURS Full time, 36 hours a week
REPORTING TO Network Manager

JOB PURPOSE
To provide technical support for the IT network in order to ensure an excellent learning resource for students and an effective information system across the Academy.
The successful candidate will be an excellent, dynamic and enthusiastic individual. The post will include key responsibilities for maintaining effective service delivery standards, maintaining equipment and providing first and second line support to our students and staff. There is a requirement to be customer-focused and able to work within a team. The post requires a “hands-on” person with excellent technical and communication skills, with a good practical knowledge of Servers and Microsoft and Apple applications in a network environment.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- To provide IT support to the Academy, ensuring minimal disruption to the normal running of the school.
- Installation and deployment of workstations, laptops and other IT equipment - including network and phone cabling and patching.
- Providing technical input to the team.
- To have overall responsibility for ensuring all Printer / MFP devices are maintained / usable.
- To assist staff in configuring workstations/systems to ensure these run effectively.
- To have overall responsibility for maintaining and ensuring uptime of the Academy Library system, Digital Signage system, Antivirus compliance, and Room / Visitor booking systems.
- To be responsible for the creation of new user accounts in Active Directory, you will also have overall responsibility for ensuring users have the correct Active Directory group membership, including email distribution groups.
- Troubleshooting of software installed on Windows Server’s (2016) Apple laptops / desktops within a Windows Domain environment. Knowledge of Apple Xserve is desirable.
- To provide in-depth 1st/2nd line support on various software packages for staff and students.
- To have overall responsibility for ensuring a full IT Audit is carried out, and the Asset database is kept up-to-date and is in compliance with Audit regulations.
- Respond to requests received via the Academy’s IT Helpdesk either in-person or remotely.
- Ensure basic safety checks are carried out on equipment.
- Basic experience of using AV equipment.
- The post-holder will assist in the training of staff to make use of new IT equipment.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Proven experience in Google products and Google administration.
- Proven experience in an IT/Desktop support role using Windows 10 operating systems in a networked environment.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of using Active Directory, Group Policy, Hyper V, Print Management & DNS.
- Experience of using Microsoft servers 2012 R2 and 2016 .
- Experience of running Backups/Restores, and Antivirus software administration.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 2016 or Office 365.
- Microsoft Windows 10 administrator certification would be desired.
- Level 2 IT diploma certification required

- To attend full staff, departmental and other meetings with staff working groups as requested.
- To take part in training and performance management procedures.
- To carry out the duties in the most effective, efficient and economic manner available.
- To contribute to the development of the Academy’s Christian ethos.
- To support the Academy Mission Statement.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
Successful candidates are likely to be able to give evidence in support of all or most of the following:
Professional Skills and Experience
- Experience of working as an IT Technician in a school or similar experience.
- A good ICT background and relevant qualifications or experience in this field.
- Knowledge of appropriate use of IT equipment and ability to communicate and demonstrate this knowledge effectively to staff and students.
- Experience of working with young people, preferably in an educational setting.
- Be ICT literate and be able to operate software at a high level.
- Have experience of schools data systems (Experience of SIMS would be an advantage but training will be given).
- Possess the ability to time manage and prioritise effectively.
- Show evidence of continued professional development.
People, Relationships and Communications
