JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an individual who will be responsible for the day-to-day support, maintenance and advancement of IT services. This will involve managing requests from and supporting different departments, escalations from other IS staff, troubleshooting and RCA, projects, and delivery of new technologies. This role will join the existing IS/IT team, reporting to the Head of IT & Security. The IT Systems Administrator supports both technical and non-technical staff; hence, the successful candidate must be able to understand the technologies in use and support the teams to deliver a first-class service to the business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with the wider IT team to effectively support the business and deliver technologies.
- Advocate for and champion best practices and proactive approaches.
- Work with all IS and business units to ensure that services and projects are delivered correctly.
- Develop a firm understanding and become a contact for IT systems and technologies.
- Ensure appropriate technical documentation and processes are available or created.
- Experienced with Microsoft Office 365.
PERSONAL SKILLS
- Strong team member, communication skills, able to contribute positively, accept and provide support, adapt, and achieve goals with the team as a unit. Experience supporting technical staff in a pro-active and personable manner.
- Ability to complete assigned or self-assigned tasks to time and a high standard without prompting.
- The ability to create, maintain and distribute documentation for staff in different departments.
- Ability to successfully manage and deliver multiple concurrent workstreams, liaising effectively with other teams and business units where required.
- Experience liaising with vendors and researching new technologies.
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years’ experience supporting Microsoft environments, Windows operating systems, servers, and awareness of Microsoft SQL.
- Experience in a scripting language, preferably Windows PowerShell.
- Experience of using helpdesk software within an environment following ITIL guidelines, ensuring requests and changes are completed in a timely fashion.
- Hypervisors, Hyper-V and VMWare.
- Windows AD, Exchange\E-mail, DNS, Antivirus and Backup applications.
- Knowledge of TCP\IP and general networking including DNS, DHCP, VPN and S/FTP.
- Experience of security and endpoint devices e.g., E-mail\Spam filters, Firewall and Wireless APs.
- Experience of application configuration, System Center and deployments e.g., VPNs, OS, SCCM.
- Experience of incident management and service desk escalations.
- Microsoft Windows Server and/or Client) certification or relevant demonstrable experience.
- Microsoft Azure or AWS certification or have relevant demonstrable experience.
- ITIL qualified or have relevant demonstrable practical experience of use.
The following skills are desirable but not essesntial:
- Experience with SSO, Azure management and the Citrix XenApp platform.
- Experience with Fortigate VPNs and firewalls.
- Experience of one or more from FocalPoint, Phixflow, Uniflow, AKJ/Aurora Affinity and Autotask.
