You will be responsible for improving the quality of IT support our teams receive and strengthening our IT procedures and systems. The role will be based in our Head Office in Edinburgh, with a mix of home and office working expected. You’ll make regular site visits to our four other UK offices and occasionally to project sites.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee the IT helpdesk and ensure it meets service level targets by improving procedures, supporting the helpdesk team and providing cover.
- Help improve IT support to our staff based on-site in challenging working environments.
- Coordinate IT equipment procurement, deployment and maintenance.
- Seek opportunities for our staff to better help themselves with IT issues, with training, procedures and systems.

- Undertake regular data housekeeping and data migration projects.
- Administer users and teams in Microsoft 365, Deltek PIM and other key systems, and oversee software licensing.
- Maintain our SharePoint intranet site.
- Use your experience to contribute to more complex IT requests such as bespoke software tools, novel data processing and tender documentation.
We are looking for someone who is well organised, has a keen eye for detail and excels at seeing tasks and projects through to completion. You will be self driven, and capable of using your own initiative to work independently to your brief. You will ensure our teams feel well supported by communicating clearly and regularly and following up to make sure their requests are fully resolved. This will be more challenging but also more interesting when working with our site-based archaeology teams. The role would suit somebody who is genuine, enthusiastic, curious about how different people and teams work and able to help tune our support around this.
