Job Overview:
As an IT Specialist, you will be challenged to work on a wide range of technologies, from server virtualization to network authentication implementation, both on-premises and in cloud solutions. You will be responsible for responding to internal support requests, both at the desktop level and for internal projects with all levels of the organization. Additionally, you will participate in cybersecurity activities, helping the cybersecurity team implement compliance controls. You can expect to be tasked with internal projects, such as implementing new IT systems, performing maintenance activities, and providing training, as well as managing IT department budgets and resources.
As a key member of a small IT team, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact every day, always operating with integrity and maintaining the highest ethical standards. You will be expected to seek out information and provide solutions without significant direction.
In this position our colleagues are our customers and in support of them, you will be given exposure to a variety of technologies every day. While there is no on-call rotation, you will be expected to schedule after-hours work as needed and to assist in after-hours emergencies.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
- Perform data backups and disaster recovery options.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
- Coordinate and implement network security measures to protect data, software and hardware.
- Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
- Configure, monitor, and maintain email applications or virus protection software.
- Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems.
- Assigning and updating security permissions for the system network.
- Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
- Training users on the correct use of software and hardware within the system.
- Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.
- Gather data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system network requirements.
- Manage Microsoft Azure services, including, Azure Active Directory, Virtual Machines, Intune, and Networking
- Manage and maintain iDrac’s & ESXI’s (Hyper-V & VMware) performance and storage.
- Coordinate with vendors and with company personnel to manage inventory and facilitate purchases.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 2+ years of experience working on an IT support desk/service providing end user support, providing desktop support in a Windows 10 environment, managing windows server (2012, 2016), Active Directory and Linux environment.
- Experience managing Office 365 Exchange and SharePoint
- Understanding of IT networking (OSI 7 Layer Model, VLANS)
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to users, technical and non-technical.
- Flexible and adaptable to rapid change.
- Qualified candidates must have the ability to obtain a security clearance with the US Government. By virtue of that, U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, Automation tools and PowerShell scripting, supporting software development teams and DevOps tools.
- Strong writing skills, ability to produce useful documentation.
- MCSA, Security+. CCNA certifications
- NIST 800-171 and ITAR experience
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure or AWS cloud environments.
