We’re looking for an experienced* IT Operations Manager* to join our amazing IT team! This is a newly created role and the successful applicant will oversee and manage Bidwells IT Systems, Infrastructure and associated IT operational activities. Bidwells IT team service our nearly 600 strong business across the entirety of the UK.
The five person strong team consists of a Business Solutions Architect, Business Solutions Analysts and Infrastructure Engineers. The IT Operations Manager will oversee the planning, procurement, implementation, security, protocols, and management of Information Technology solutions in use by Bidwells Staff and the IT operational activities associated with them.

Job Purpose*
This role will oversee both infrastructure and systems and be accountable all elements of the IT estate that, ultimately, provision the use of systems by the firm’s user base – ensuring that all systems / hosting / networks are performant, implementing new technologies into the estate, and managing the relevant vendors and service providers.

Key Responsibilities:*
- Leadership – Effective management of 5 team members, including performance and training assessments.
- Assist in the development of IT staffing plan and professional growth.
- Manage IT Operations services and prepare management reports of department activities, tasks, and operational metrics.
- Act as the main point of contact for Senior Stakeholders in the absence of the Tech & Innovation Director.
- Develop and manage annual IT budgets.
- Identify and manage operational risks.
- Manage information technology projects.
- Vendor Management - Partner with the Service Delivery Manager to manage IT vendors, contracts, licenses, and service level agreements.
- Procure and manage IT Services.
- Align IT systems & infrastructure with current and future business requirements and strategic goals.
- Ensure “As-Is” and “To-Be” architectures are relevant, aligned to IT Strategy, and adhered to.
- Manage installations, upgrades and configurations of hardware and software.
- Maintain and optimize systems, networks and servers.
- Resolve issues escalated by technicians and engineers.
- Partner with the Information and Cyber Security Manager to implement, monitor and operationalise security controls in line with best practice frameworks (CyberEssentials+ / ISO 27001)
- Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery efforts are in line with best practice and business expectation.

About you:*
Essential
- 3 years’ experience as an IT Operations Manager (or similar role).
- Experience with system installation, configuration, and analysis.
- Thorough knowledge of networks, virtual data centres and cloud computing.
- Thorough knowledge of IT security solutions.
- Leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Outstanding communication skills
- Problem-solving aptitude.

Desired*
- Relevant Professional Qualifications
- BSc/BA in Computer Science, IT, or relevant field.
- Experience of managing significant supplier contracts.
- Experience in creating and managing IT budgets.
- Knowledge of data protection operations and legislation (e.g. GDPR).
- Previous experience of gaining ISO or CyberEssentials certification.
