Salary: £53,000-£58,000 plus 10% On Call Allowance after probation
Location: O2 Arena, North Greenwich, London, 50% office attendance model

Overview of project/role
The Infrastructure Engineer reports to the Infrastructure Manager and is a technical specialist delivering underpinning technology such as Messaging, remote services, operating systems or databases for business services including live transport systems that the EUC or Hosting and Networks Service Owner is accountable for.
The role delivers technical expertise to aid the implementation, maintenance, and support of core technology along with providing technical guidance to junior members of the team. The services provided by the technology this role supports run 24/7 365 days per year.
1. Managing time: Responsible for effective time management to develop skills, maintain technology availability, mentor junior team members and maintain awareness of technology trends
2. Compliance: Identify technical dependencies, risks, and issues to maintain vendor, statutory and T&D compliance levels
3. Service Improvement: Identify trends and forecast activity to mitigate technical and service outages through proactive planning
4. Supplier Management: Manage suppliers' adherence to Service Level Agreements and work with vendors to minimise service disruption by adhering to TfL governance for changes, release and security
5. Continuous improvements: Responsible for identifying trends and proactively carrying out improvements to assist TfL in maintaining up to date, stable and secure technologies
6. Role Model: Deliver technical leadership and behave as a role model to junior members of the team wishing to progress
7. Service provision: Be part of a 24/7 on call rota delivering continuous support for technology that underpins the business service provision along with change implementation outside of TfL core working hours
8. Incident resolution: Provide technical support to restore service when technology components fail
Skills
- Highly experienced in planning own activities
- Highly skilled at analysing data to determine trends and patterns to proactive mitigate service affecting issues
- Communicates clearly adapting the style of communication to meet the varying audience
- Proven ability to work with suppliers, internal teams and customers as necessary to reliably deliver component technologies that combine to form business services
- Proficient in risk identification and mitigation planning to reduce service impacting issues
- Highly skilled at solving complex challenges, being able to communicate coherently throughout the process
Knowledge
- A Degree in a relevant technology/computer science subject/equivalent technical qualification plus sound on the job experience of the platform specialism or equivalent extensive on-the job experience in IT infrastructure and in the particular platform specialism
- In depth knowledge of the latest and emerging technologies likely to be employed in designing and delivering Enterprise-Wide quality solutions in the chosen platform.
- Knowledge of ITIL and its practical implementation in large organisations.
- The relevant national and international legislation pertaining to the Government/Public Sector IT – e.g., Data Protection Act, EU Procurement Directives and Freedom of Information Act.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies, such as Scrum
Experience
- Experience of working in teams delivering support in an enterprise environment of 20k plus users
- Worked as a member of a technical team, taking ownership of and prioritising resolution of incidents.
- Delivered support to technology that runs on a 24/7 basis
- Implemented updated versions of technology in line with approved designs
- Provided technical advice to management team, relating technical terms to non-technical people with ease
