We are on the lookout for an IT Infrastructure Administrator to join us on a 1 years fixed term contract.

Role Overview

The primary purpose of the IT Infrastructure Administrator is to ensure stability, resilience and robustness of the LNER IT estate both on-premise and in the cloud. The IT Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for the continued maintenance, upgrade and installation of new infrastructure, services and systems into the LNER IT estate.

Within this role you will ensure optimum performance and reliability of the business IT services/infrastructure within environments including:

  • On-Premise VMWare
  • On-Premise Servers
  • Datacentre Environments
  • Backup Environments
  • Central Booking Engine Environment
  • Cloud Environments (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure)

This role will also include..

  • Supporting resolution of major incident issues within the business infrastructure and systems
  • Identifying emerging issues and resolve directly or delegate as appropriate
  • Responsibility for a knowledge management system including software license compliance
  • Maintain a secondary competence role for the purpose of contingency planning
  • On Call Position

You will need at least 2 years' experience of Server/Data Centre Environment Administration in both cloud and on-premise infrastructure and have skills in the following areas:

  • Amazon Web Services (Relevant Amazon Certification Advantageous)
  • Microsoft Azure (Relevant Microsoft Certification Advantageous)
  • VMWare vSphere and ESXi Host Management including Storage and Network
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Microsoft Exchange Online
  • Microsoft Windows Domain Services including Active Directory, Group Policy, Certificate Services and Remote Desktop Services
  • SQL/Oracle Database Management
  • HP Server Hardware Maintenance and Build
  • SAN Management and Monitoring
  • Network Switch Management and Configuration including VPN technologies
  • VoIP Telephony infrastructure including IVR management
  • Backup Lifecycle Management (Experience with Veeam is advantageous)
  • Load Balancer Administration (Experience with Kemp is advantageous)
  • Linux administration experience would also be advantageous
