Salary: £27,625 with the potential to rise to £32,925 over 3 years

Graduate Trainee – Data & Technology


As a Graduate Trainee you will play a key part within your allocated directorate of Data & Technology. You will navigate through the programme on a rotational basis and provide support to the organisation that is relevant to Data & Technology within the NHS Supply Chain.


What does a Data & Technology Graduate Trainee do at NHS Supply Chain?


You will experience different areas of the business as an IT Service Delivery Manager including 12 months in various Data & Technology departments learning a wider variety of skills and knowledge within IT. You will then be allocated two 6-month projects where you can apply your new skills to help run an IT or Business project end to end – these projects will add true value to the NHS help towards improved patient care and make a real difference. You will be allocated a mentor for the duration of your programme and the opportunity to gain 2 -way feedback on your programme over the 2-year period.


With the support from others in the team, as a Graduate Trainee IT Service Delivery Manager you will work with senior leaders in the business to develop strategic plans that closely support the business’s goals. You will advise on the IT solutions needed to deliver the business plans in line with IT policy.

What skills, qualities, and qualifications do I need to be successful:


Qualifications: 2:2 classification degree or above achieved within the last three years gained in IT Services or Operations Management, Psychology, equivalent qualifications gained in the technology sectors.


Experience: Some work experience would be valuable, however not essential as full training will be provided.


Skills: Excellent numerical, writing, computer literacy, communication, and presentation skills.


Personal Qualities: You will have a real desire to work in the NHS with the drive and ambition to become a IT professional.

Hybrid working; a blend of home and office working 2/3 days in the office and 2/3 days at home.

Once we have your details and have reviewed your application you will be required to complete a verbal and numerical reasoning tests along with a personality questionnaire.


Applicants will be shortlisted and those successful at this first stage will be invited to an initial interview held via Microsoft Teams. Finally, all candidates who are selected following the Teams interview will be invited to attend a regional assessment centre. This will include a group exercise, presentation, and competency-based interview.
