We are seeking an enthusiastic team player, problem solver and effective communicator to join our IT team in this fast paced, exciting and challenging environment. You will be responsible for providing technical support to staff and pupils on site and responding to their needs.

Bute House Preparatory School is a distinctive and highly regarded independent day school for over 300 girls aged between 4 and 11 years old. Aim: To be an enthusiastic member of the IT department, helping to ensure that we provide a high quality service to all our stakeholders including teachers, pupils and parents. This will be achieved by providing efficient and effective IT support.

Key Responsibilities (IT):-

1. Provide first line IT and audio visual support around the school to staff.

2. Monitor the IT Helpdesk system and record reported issues. Resolve or escalate issues as appropriate. Report on Helpdesk statistics.

3. Manage day-to-day use of laptop and iPad trolleys including locking/unlocking, charging, moving between locations and ensuring all laptops/iPads are accounted for.

4. Provide software support to staff and occasionally pupils, primarily for Windows, iOS and ChromeOS operating systems and applications. Provide solutions to problems and offer advice or ideas where appropriate to increase efficiency and effective use of IT throughout the school.

5. Provide hardware support to staff including fixing printer jams, toner changes, resolving screen/projector display problems, resolving audio problems and troubleshooting problems with IT peripherals.

6. Assist with installing and configuring new software/hardware as required and assist with the application of operating system patches and software updates to laptops and iPads.

7. Maintain IT hardware including basic maintenance of projectors and ensuring laptops, iPads and other equipment are in a good state of repair.

8. Assist with maintenance projects and business value projects as assigned by the IT Manager, such as infrastructure upgrades and the implementation of new IT services.

9. Assist with the administration of IT cloud services, including Google Workspace and Office 365.

10. Routine server maintenance, including monitoring and management of backup routines, installing and upgrading software, applying and checking operating system patches, monitoring server health.

11. Routine maintenance, monitoring and configuration changes for other network devices such as NAS drives, switches, WiFi and web filter.

12. Assist with Data Privacy assessments and activities to ensure compliance with data protection principles.

13. General administration for the IT department – to maintain accurate records/information and to create/update documentation relating to systems, services and processes.

14. Prepare microphones and other IT and audio visual equipment for assemblies when required.

15. Manage relationships with all key stakeholders. Liaise with external suppliers and contractors and oversee their activities on site. Support and build relationships with colleagues and the wider school team.

16. Attend any training as required.

17. Any additional jobs given by the IT Manager commensurate with this role.

Key Responsibilities (Data):-

18. Use Microsoft Excel knowledge to provide support with manipulation/transformation of various internal and external systems data.

19. Support the Data Manager in the start of year upload of student data and review of year-end rollover processing for external systems.

20. Assist in the creation/maintenance of documentation for the above activities.

21. Ad-hoc data requests (any additional jobs given by the Data Manager commensurate with this role).
