Job description
We are looking to appoint an IT Customer Service Representative who will participate in creating IT services that will support the next generation of scientific discovery, as part of the Cavendish Laboratory's £300m Ray Dolby Centre project.
Joining a local IT Services group of 13 people consisting of Infrastructure, Help Desk and Audiovisual teams, you will become a member of the Help Desk team in an important customer service role, supporting our internal customers while actively contributing your ideas towards improving IT service quality and customer experiences.
You will support Windows-based PCs, hardware components and peripheral devices, Microsoft Office applications (increasingly cloud-based), alongside Teams and SharePoint. You should also be prepared to support macOS and audiovisual systems. Our team will support and train you so you can reach your full potential in the role.
We are seeking to transform our Help Desk and its service delivery to customers, through the provision of better support systems, knowledge bases and ways of working - listening to customers, understanding and empathising with their needs, and improving their IT experiences to reduce support requests, leveraging our IT infrastructure team to develop wider solutions where possible. This should be an exciting and meaningful project achievement to add to your career history, alongside our move in 2024 to the brand new building, Ray Dolby Centre.
The nature of the role means working onsite will be required to assist customers in person, with the possibility of some remote work, subject to cover requirements. In return for your commitment to us, you would be joining a supportive department with an active commitment to building community, diversity and growth with flexible working practises, wellbeing initiatives and personal and professional development opportunities. The Department of Physics currently holds an Athena SWAN Gold Award.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
