GROUP MANAGER IT ARCHITECTURE INFRASTRUCTURE & TECH OPERATIONS

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

As part of the Senior Leadership Team of the Technology & Innovations team this role is responsible for the strategy, architecture/design, engineering, operations, and overall management of on-premise and cloud technologies supporting City National Bank. The Group Manager of Architecture, Infrastructure & IT Operations will formulate strategies and thought leadership on emerging technology opportunities in the Financial Services industry and will lead key technology transformation & modernization efforts and deliver measurable progress to the Bank. Additionally, this role will ensure the safety and soundness of the Bank's IT operations including regulatory compliance.This role is also expected to have a significant matrix management responsibility and will be required to indirectly manage delivery across numerous technology and business groups.The ideal candidate will implement best-in-class market practices to ensure robust technology solutions that meet dynamic business needs and requirements while achieving top quartile delivery and operations for the Bank.As part of the senior leadership role the following key areas of oversight roll up into this Leader, including but not limited to: � Enterprise Architecture � IT Service Management� Cloud Architecture, Engineering & Operations � Infrastructure Hosting & Network Services� Colleague Productivity and Experience� Infrastructure Transformation & Platform as a Service � Risk & Compliance Operationalization


Technology and Innovation Division
As a member of City National's Technology & Innovation group, you will drive, develop, and maintain solutions for clients and colleagues. This is an exciting time of technology advancement and innovation across the bank, particularly within our technology teams.


WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Responsible for advancing City National Bank�s technology architecture to enable differentiated and integrated experiences for clients/colleagues, which maintaining efficient, resilient and compliant operations.
  • Co-authors, co-implements, and co-governs the Bank�s Cloud First Strategy. Responsible for providing transformative, cloud services to the enterprise to meet dynamic business needs. This includes the architecture, engineering and operationalization of cloud services and overall maturation of the Bank�s hybrid cloud operations.
  • Responsible for the IT Service Management Operations function to ensure ITIL objectives continue to be met while progressively pursuing new, modern practices e.g., Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Responsible for establishing a robust risk and compliance framework for IT operations that meets the policies, standards and regulatory requirements of the Bank.
  • Leads the remediation of regulatory findings, which involves working with the Bank�s regulators.
  • Responsible for transforming infrastructure and middleware services by focusing on the next-generation workplace, storage, databases, network and datacenter and other infrastructure technologies.
  • Devises and implements the strategic plan related to the bank's core infrastructure and operations, sets strategy, establishes standards and ensures compliance and accuracy for assigned technical baselines, including cloud architectures, server technologies, and communication technologies, as well as LANs, WANs, Internet, Intranet and wireless implementations.
  • Designs and implements short and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity and cloud configuration meets existing and future requirements, as well as defines hardware, software and communication standards in conjunction with owners and stakeholders.
  • Recommends and manages short and long-term projects designed to meet business requirements for infrastructure functionality, performance, availability, system monitoring/instrumentation, security, cost and business continuity needs while considering business direction and growth strategies.
  • Identifies and drives methodologies and processes that support world class standards for delivering infrastructure/cloud services, and identify and manage key targeted areas for improvement.
  • Oversees all activities of server, storage, network, endpoint, and other technologies needed for modern, efficient, effective technology success & lead the evaluation of the existing configuration of hardware, systems and technologies, in the context of business operations to identify any gaps in capacity or capabilities.
  • Uplifts the skills and attitude of the existing horizontal function to a modern capability that builds on existing strength of reliability and robustness, adding innovation, agility and flexibility
  • Manages organizational change and the need to ensure that the future state is well communicated and that the process of achieving the future state is well managed.
  • Oversees the development of appropriate technology standards, governance policies and practices, and their dissemination in the entire organization.
  • Facilitates the creation of a team environment by providing strong mentoring skills, training and interdepartmental communications.
  • Supports and facilitate City National�s transformation and ideation efforts related to RBC technology investments and standards. Leverage RBC�s investments in innovation and technology where appropriate
  • Contributes to a culture of innovation proactively seeking ways to enhance the capability and performance efficiency, efficacy and success of City National�s innovation and technology modernization efforts.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED


Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in experience in Information Technology
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a direct management leading large teams, including managing managers
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Infrastructure transformation & modernization
  • Minimum of 5 years working in a matrix management environment


Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience in managing enterprise scale infrastructures across broad technology disciplines such as Compute, Storage and Networking verticals
  • Experience in managing technology teams supporting complex infrastructures
  • Experience working with cloud-based platforms (primarily Azure) in an enterprise environment
  • Experience with designing, implementing, or operating IT systems on leading enterprise platforms
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership of infrastructure change and transformation programs
  • Strong ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and influencing ability who can win the confidence of individuals at all levels, both inside and outside of the organization
  • Ability to provoke thought leadership in others
  • Ability to influence resources to deliver in a matrix environment while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
  • Strong leadership skills & demonstrated matrix organization management experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams with input from resources from a variety of teams, delivering high quality, on budget, within schedule solutions as an IT service.
  • Broad industry knowledge and collaboration skills to bring forward new ideas to improve service delivery, speed, and cost optimization.
  • A strong understanding of Information/Application Security on premise and in the cloud
  • Understanding of cloud ecosystem and leading edge cloud emerging technologies
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organization skills with a results-oriented mindset
  • Strong strategic planning discipline, with experience building and communicating business cases for technology change
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with both business and IT stakeholders and leaders, as well as related IT project and operations teams
  • Knowledge of varying architecture methodologies, with demonstrated ability to select and apply the appropriate method to the problem at-hand.
  • Grasp of current and emerging technologies and trends, with ability to rapidly assess and apply new and emerging technologies
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to assess necessary activities and prioritize for completion of assignments using excellent time management, prioritization skills and work ethic
  • Strong analytical problem-solving ability
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a project team
Compensation
Starting base salary: $218,782 - $406,300 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
