The Into Work Advice Service provides support to people who are actively seeking employment or looking to upskill; the team is able to offer support and intensive mentoring through externally funded projects and volunteering opportunities.
The Youth Mentor team, which is part of the Into Work Advice Service, provides specialist employment and upskilling support to young people aged 16-24 with complex barriers to employment, through a number of externally funded projects.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Into Work Coordinator (Youth) line manages the Youth Mentoring Team which is dispersed across Hubs and outreach locations across the city, providing comprehensive employment mentoring support through a number of funded projects.
The role will line manage a large team of Youth Mentors, Assistant Into Work Coordinators and Bright Start Support Workers. The post is responsible for managing mentors caseloads, carrying out quality checks/audits on advice given to customers, putting recommendations and action plans in place where necessary.
The post will ensure the large team of Mentors work efficiently and cohesively around the city, to guarantee services and events are joined up to reach maximum number of people across Cardiff. The role will be an expert in all employability provision in the local area, and will be required to put in place innovate ways of engaging people on to the specialist employment programmes.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU
Minimum of 2 years’ experience of supervising and managing others to include coaching and supporting. The ability to lead a large team, showing a commitment to staff engagement and encouraging two way communication.
Excellent knowledge of the wide range of employability support, careers advice and guidance, with proven experience. Thorough understanding of Welfare Benefit legislation including Welfare reform changes, and the impact on Into Work support.
Experience of managing a team, who work with unemployed job seekers who are furthest away from the labour market.
Extensive experience of managing a service who provide excellent customer facing service.
Experience of managing multiple externally funded projects (including ESF projects), including staff, budget and targets.
Experience of multi-agency partnership working, including Local Authority services.
Experience of developing, managing and maintaining online databases.
Proven experience of providing high quality documents and reports.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The post will be required to work from a number of different locations, including Central Library Hub and other Community Hub buildings.
