Working alongside the Head of People Partnering and the wider HR team, you will also input into the development and implementation of global HR projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide and coach managers across UK and international teams to lead HR processes and procedures, implement people policies, and comply with local employment law on key procedures such as capability, misconduct, grievance and safeguarding
  • Provide and facilitate two-way support, knowledge-sharing, and counsel for ZSL HR Managers in the field
  • Support country teams with HR training and development on wellbeing, safeguarding, EDI, HR policy and management development
  • Collaborate with the Senior HR Business Partner on diagnosing, advising and designing people interventions to meet the needs of our overseas employee experience
  • Review, draft, and implement people policies suitable for a global organisation on subjects such as global mobility, international reward, wellbeing, and diversity and inclusion.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working in an HR generalist role supporting a complex organisation working internationally, preferably for an INGO in the non-profit global conservation or humanitarian/development sectors
  • Have proven experience of reviewing, drafting and implementing HR policies and procedures for an international context, for example but not limited to, global mobility, safe recruitment, safeguarding/PSEA, or national staff employee guidance
  • Be able to effectively manage and advise on employee relations issues, including performance management, bullying and harassment, disciplinary, and grievance procedures
  • Hold awareness of good HR practice in relation to a range of diversity issues including some understanding around race, cultural sensitivity, power & privilege and a commitment to ZSL’s values and commitment to inclusion and safeguarding
  • A DBS is required for this position due to the nature of supporting our safeguarding agenda overseas

We strongly encourage applications from all backgrounds and celebrate the value of having a team of employees with diverse skills, experiences, and backgrounds. We actively encourage applications from disabled and ethnic minority candidates as those demographics are currently under-represented across ZSL.
