About Our Opportunity
The Internal Audit Intern works as part of the Internal Audit Centre’s team to provide internal auditing services to government departments, agencies, boards, and commissions. The Intern is responsible for assisting internal audit staff in performing audit activities in accordance with the standards established by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
This position will provide the Intern with opportunities that include:
- Performing research related to audit planning;
- Attending and documenting minutes of client meetings;
- Assisting with the preparation of system and process documentation;
- Assisting with the development and performance of audit testing procedures to evaluate processes and internal controls for efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance to policies and procedures;
- Assisting with the provision of advisory services;
- Applying data analytics and visualization tools to analyze large datasets and perform audit testing procedures.
- Maintaining thorough file documentation using audit software (TeamMate+); and,
- Fostering positive client relationships.
About You
You are a recent graduate (i.e., within the past three (3) years) from an undergraduate or graduate degree program, preferably in a relevant field (e.g., accounting, business, management, statistics).
You’ve shown a commitment to continuous learning and keeping pace with evolving technology to meet the needs of organizations in the internet era. This includes things like exploring agile ways of working, how to communicate and collaborate with our clients virtually, applying data analytics and/or visualization to analyze data and effective ways of presenting information.
A relevant MBA or MPA master’s program would also be considered an asset.
Completion or enrollment in of one or more of the following would be considered an asset:
- Audit designation (CIA, CISA); and/or,
- Professional accounting designation (CPA recognized by CPA Canada).
This position would be ideal for someone with the following skills and work experience:
- Strong interpersonal, and communication skills to establish and maintain strong and effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders;
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and concisely, both verbal and written;
- Ability to exercise discretion while working with confidential information;
- Proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
- Strong analytical skills, and good judgment for problem identification;
- Ability to handle deadlines and new challenges with a positive attitude; and,
- Ability to organize multiple concurrent priorities, and to work as part of a team.

Additional Information
This is a term position with an anticipated end date of August 31, 2025. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate. This competition may be used to fill multiple Intern positions.

Pay Grade: EC 06
Salary Range: $2,010.61 - $2,513.26 Bi-Weekly
