Job description
THE COMPANY
NextEnergy Capital (NEC) was founded in 2007 to become the leading investment and operating asset manager in the solar sector. Since our inception, we have been active in the development, construction and ownership of solar assets. We have AUM of c.US$3.2bn, across four investment vehicles, including three private equity funds and a single public vehicle listed on the London Stock Exchange:
1. NextPower III ESG: A private equity fund established in 2018 to invest in the international solar sector, specifically to fund the construction and long-term ownership of solar power plants. Its target markets comprise mainly of OECD and OECD Key Partner countries. The fund has raised c.US$896m and has c.335MWp of solar assets in operation and a further c.700MWp under construction/development.
2. NextPower UK ESG: Recently completed its second close, securing £487m in equity, which includes a commitment from the UK Government Infrastructure Bank for up to £250m on a match basis. NextPower UK ESG is focused on unsubsidised new-build solar plants in the UK, which, at hard cap, will produce enough clean energy to power the equivalent of nearly 500,000 households or offset nearly 200,000 carbon-emitting cars on the road each year.
3. NextPower V ESG: Our latest global solar strategy launching in January 2023, the follow-on strategy to NextPower III ESG. The fund is targeting a $1.5 billion fundraise for an OECD investment in solar PV plants. There is also an 'energy transition sleeve' that encompasses adjacent technologies, such as battery storage.
4. NextEnergy Solar Fund Limited: NextEnergy Solar Fund is a listed investment company that invests in operating solar power plants mainly in the UK. It currently owns c.865MWp spread among 91 operational assets in the UK and 8 in Italy (and 1 international private vehicle), comprising a gross asset value of c.£1.3bn.
