What you’ll be doing

We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Assurance Engineer to oversee and ensure the health and safety and compliance of delivery of our services for the likes of Residential and Commercial Developers, Infrastructure engineering Companies, Highways and other Transport Authorities.

You the Construction Assurance Engineer, will be working on projects ensuring asset protection, clean and wastewater diversions, network reinforcement and new waste and wastewater assets.

Working closely with your project manager, project engineers and construction teams, you will be responsible for leading and performance, managing effective and compliant construction activities and again ensuring health and safety is at the heart of everything we do.

As the Construction Assurance Engineer, you’ll be overseeing all construction activities from conception to completion, monitoring compliance with our asset standards, safety, environmental and quality standards. You will be responsible for ensuring construction work on-site is progressing in line with the project plan, you will be the on-site representative for Thames Water and will link back to the project manager and operational teams.

You’ll be expected to provide input into the development of customer solutions as well as ensuring that project deliverables are achieved in a timely manner, within cost and quality. This position will see you delivering ground-breaking and efficient solutions whilst being the main point of contact for project team members, customers and internal senior stakeholders.

Working in the developer market is a diverse role, where you will work with external customers and internal stakeholders, the role provides an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a range of water and wastewater projects ranging from £250,000 in value through to those in excess of £5 million where you can deliver wide reaching benefits to customers and Thames Water.

What you should bring to the role

It is envisaged that the appointed Construction Assurance Engineer will have a comparable background in ensuring the effective compliance, health and safety and the delivery of construction projects focused on our asset protection. In addition

  • Good communication and co-ordination skills as well as the ability to work well independently
  • The ability to manage conflicting priorities and remain calm under pressure
  • Self-motivated, resilient and outgoing in order to succeed
  • Customer service and customer management skills would also be highly advantageous for this position
  • A proven record of embedding a Health and Safety culture and evidence of
  • Previous experience of working in construction or water industry is highly advantageous, however not essential
  • You will ideally hold some technical experience using systems such as Microsoft packages, SAP and CRM however this is not essential
  • Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence is required

This is a permanent position offering from £40,000 to £50,000 per annum plus benefits.
