Intelligence Assistant
Intelligence information comes in many formats and making sense of these formats is a critical task for our Intelligence Assistants.
As an Intelligence Assistant your role is to make use of information that comes to us through a variety of sources, for example; from members of the public, victims, witnesses and suspects.
We do not have current positions available but will be recruting successful candidates onto a 12 month bank/reserve list. We foresee vacancies arising across the unit in the near future, we will offer successful candidates from this recruitment process as they arise.
You will need:
You do not need a policing background to be successful in this role neither do you need qualifications.
We're looking for people with the ability to identify relevant information and draw logical conclusions from written information, able to spot potential patterns and connections across difference sources of information and data.
You will be a natural problem solver and confident when making decisions.
The role:
You will be collating, evaluating and sharing intelligence information to support our policing priorities and play a key role in ensuring that staff and officers are provided with the intelligence they need to protect vulnerable people and investigate crime.
Gathering detail and analysing data from intelligence reports and statements will help make an informed decision on the threat risk and appropriate form of action.

Key responsibilities:
Intelligence Force Processing & Force Gateway Team:
- Processing and assessing intelligence reports that have come into police systems and mailboxes
- Check that the details have been inputted correctly and updating police systems accordingly
- Conduct basic research, evaluate the information and make decisions regarding course of action
- Act as initial point of contact for other forces, agencies and internal departments
24/7 High Harm Team:
The 24/7 Intelligence Assistant attracts a weekend working and shift enhancement which is paid as an additional supplement to the salary.
- Provide real time intelligence support and research to rapid live time incidents.
- Proactively scan police systems for issues based on current priorities.
- Out of hours updating of police systems.
Drugs Market Team
- Perform duties feeding into national requirement for data recording
- Identify, submit and process new intelligence obtained from investigations
- Conduct research using Police systems, evaluate the information and influence decision making.
- Support Drugs Market Team with operational work
Shift Patterns
Intelligence Force Processing
3 week rolling shift pattern that provides covering between 08:00-18:00 Monday to Friday. This consists of x2 weeks 08:00-16:00 and 1x 10:00-18:00. This role is blended between office working at Police HQ, Portishead and home working
Intelligence Force Gateway.
Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00. This role is fixed office working based at Police HQ, Portishead.
24/7 High Harm Team
Rolling pattern consisting of early, late and night shifts. Core pattern of x2 early shifts 07:00-16:00, x2 late shifts 14:00-00:00 and x2 night shifts 22:00-07:00. This role is fixed office working based at Police HQ, Portishead.
Drugs Market Team
Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00. This role is fixed office working based around the A&S Area.

This role has been identified as a blended role.
The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
