The Opportunity
The School for Advanced Digital Technology at SAIT offers an exciting and diverse range of programs in information, media, and engineering technologies. The Role
- Preference will be given to applicants who can teach all of the following:
- DATA 401: Data Literacy
- DATA 410: Business Context for Data Analytics
- DATA 415: Statistical Analysis of Data
- DATA 420: IMB Skills Academy Predictive Analytics*
- Prepare and present lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, lab activities, and lab demonstrations for learners
- Maintain records for the purposes of grading, assessing professionalism and tracking attendance in both theory and lab classes
- Manage the classroom or lab to ensure a positive learning environment
- Show personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
- Provide on-going support, guidance and advice to students
- Assist in the development of Curriculum and evaluation of program quality
- Assist in optimising the scheduling of the program
- Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors
- Participate in curriculum/program reviews
- Communicate with fellow instructors and help to foster the culture of the school
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant post-secondary degree: master’s or PhD preferred, Bachelors considered with a minimum of five years related industry experience.
- IBM Skills Academy Certification or ability to complete certification prior to class start.*
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience at a post-secondary institute in Canada
- Excellent communication skills; the ability to organize and present written information
- Strong commitment to delivering high quality instruction within set deadlines.
- Ability to teach in person with large classes.
- Experience teaching international cohorts is an asset.
- Expertise in one or more of the following competencies:
- Business applications of data analytics
- IBM analytics proficiencies
- Designing, and using tools to create user interfaces for desktop, web, and mobile applications
- Programming language C, Python, and Assembly
