Job description
Teach specific classes for Paducah Parks and Recreation's Recreation Division. Must be experienced and certified (when applicable) to teach classes being offered, under the direct supervision of the Facility Staff/Recreation Specialist. Class offerings can include martial arts, dance, tumbling, aerobic, fitness, yoga, weights, etc.
- Work directly with the Recreation Specialist to organize, plan, implement and supervise specified classes for the recreation division.
- Organize materials needed for classes on a daily basis.
- Keep daily attendance, record and file incident reports, registration information, and other necessary documentation.
- Provides excellent customer service as well as communicates with other staff, supervisors and public in a courteous and professional manner.
- Promotes programs, classes, leagues, events, and recreation center memberships.
- Organize supplies and inventory daily.
- Responsible for inspecting classroom or facility space before each class and reporting any work needed to Recreation Specialist.
- Actively participate and maintain good relationships with customers.
- Monitor class participation and ensure safety and security measures are followed. Report any incidents to supervisors.
- Lift, move, and carry heavy boxes or equipment as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Specialist.
Minimum of specialized certification(s) and/or experience needed to teach aerobic, fitness, weight, exercise, martial arts, dance, tumbling, etc.
Must have good customer service and communication skills and have experience working with the public. Ability to maintain quality records. Ability to work well with others. Ability to maintain a consistent and safe environment that is conducive to enhance learning and the recreational experience. Must be prompt and reliable. Must be able to adapt when circumstances warrant. Must be flexible and organized. Must be willing to be guided and directed by other staff, and supervisors. Must be experience and certified to teach proposed classes.
