Job description

We are hiring an Inside Sales colleague to join our Avnet Silica team in Maidenhead. This is not a cold calling role, our customers know what we do and our business is built on long term relationships and as such, we work to understand our customers’ requirements, get to know them and go the extra mile to ensure we can be called upon when they need us. Our leads are warm new leads from customers and suppliers.

This role is a combination of inside sales and customer services, offering the best solutions to both new and existing customer accounts. Our team are highly skilled and proud of what they achieve through building strong long term relationships and customer trust within the OEM and CEM design and manufacturing markets. We are flexible and connect with our customer base in the way best for the customer, using inbound and outbound multimedia communications (e.g., telephone, email, online portals).
You do not need to know about electronic products, however this would be an advantage.
Initially whilst training this role will be office based from Maidenhead, after training, this role is open to hybrid working, full details to be discussed during the interview process.

What will you be doing?
  • Delivering solutions or finding new opportunities for a positive customer experience through the use of sales methodology
  • Initiating and answering sales inquiries directly from/to prospective and/or existing customers to promote product offerings, services and capabilities.
  • Promptly and accurately responding to prospective or existing customer information requests.
  • Monitoring/following up on sales activities throughout the process to meet or exceed customer requirements from initial contact to order fulfilment with strong quote follow up.
  • Maintaining and expanding sales with existing accounts through a high level of customer service and customer knowledge (e.g. Distribution Total Available Market (DTAM), projects in pipeline, design registrations, critical start dates).
  • Working in a team environment, proactively coordinates sales efforts and strategies with internal resources such as product, materials, field sales and suppliers.
  • Effectively communicating with customers regarding current product information and provides accurate and detailed pricing, quotes, and input on products and final solutions. Coordinates existing customer requirements for inventories, delivery lead time and unit prices.
  • Will monitor customer backlogs, on time deliveries, credits, RMA’s and other duties as assigned
Do you have?
  • The ability to learn and share expert knowledge of customer needs, products and complexity of business services.
  • The ability to identify new qualified customers for inclusion in Avnet’s portfolio of increasingly more complex accounts.
  • The ability to build excellent long term relationships.
  • The ability to Occasional travel to customer sites and/or attend training.
  • Knowledge of systems such as SAP, ERP, and order management (beneficial).
  • Knowledge of Excel skills allowing for problem solving, formulas, analysis, formatting and manipulation of data.
  • Excellent English (written and spoken)
