Part of the newly formed Warwick Innovation District, The West Midlands Health and Wellbeing Innovation Network identifies challenges in the NHS, finds innovators to solve those challenges and facilitates a product development process to test and implement solutions. We have recently been successful in gaining funding for several exciting new projects which means we are now ready to grow our team.

Leading a team of Innovation Facilitators and Co-ordinators, you will be involved in the design and delivery of challenge-led programmes for SMEs, corporates, academia, health organisations and industries to deliver new products that can improve the health and wellbeing of the West Midlands. Connecting organisations in the health and wellbeing ecosystem, you will help to inspire, educate and incubate businesses and partners by designing and delivering a full lifecycle of scoping through to scouting and product development.

From the initial needs analysis, you will bring your experience of action planning to identify suitable partners and suppliers, leading your team to scout for the organisations who can meet our challenges, screening and shortlisting as you create a continual pipeline. Working closely with the organisations you identify, you will support and mentor them to ensure positive outcomes, with a focus on economic growth. Your excellent communication skills and experience in a similar environment, will enable you to confidently lead workshops and cohort events, communicating with a variety of stakeholders across businesses and healthcare partners.

Monitoring and evaluating programme activities, you will be responsible for tracking the projects’ achievements and will work closely with other members of the Warwick Innovation District team to ensure that activities are carried out effectively and efficiently. You will be confident in managing complex budgets and reporting to a senior team on progress. Interested in innovation, you will have a motivation to improve the health and wellbeing of the nation, ideally having already worked in a healthcare or wellbeing setting. You will understand the challenges of the sector and will be able to identify and implement technology that can be used to solve real world challenges.

Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

Working with partner organisations to create a vibrant, innovative and challenging ecosystem in the Health and Wellbeing arena. Creating challenge led programmes for SMEs, corporates, academia, health organisations and industries to improve the health and wellbeing of the region and deliver new products businesses and services through inspiration, education and incubation. This role will design and facilitate discovery workshops, design sprints and full length innovation programmes with stakeholders ranging from senior NHS staff to early stage start-ups.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Work with the Senior Stakeholders to design innovation programmes consisting of workshops, sprints and events that enable innovation in the health care sector including:
Identifying, onboarding and guiding relevant challenge managers who are often senior stakeholders

2. Create and manage a process for designing challenges and programmes - including recruitment to cohorts support and education programme, and ensuring relevant involvement from partners in the programme. The challenges should be health focussed and encourage high quality applicants across a wide variety of sectors in the region

3. Develop and deliver a programme for each cohort including:
  • Needs analysis and mapping of support for members.
  • Action planning for cohort.
  • Motivating and action planning with members.
  • Developing a programme of events and sessions appropriate for cohort and individuals – timetabling and managing process as appropriate.
  • Liaise with members of the ecosystem to source support and expertise for cohort.
  • Mentor and support businesses in their actions.
  • Manage and support sprint activities.
  • Support and coaching within area of expertise.

4. To manage the set up and operations of the WMHWIN through start up and growth phases, including liaison with facilities leads on all sites, creation of digital and physical processes and programmes.

  • Set up and deliver effective monitoring and evaluation of programme activities to update stakeholders and funders on progress and achievements.
  • Manage and track budgets relative to programme delivery.
  • Liaise with University of Warwick operations team to provide effective marketing, communications and PR to publicise events and successes.
  • To engage in bid writing and funding opportunities to enable the continued success and growth of WMHWIN.


The individual will be required to support activities outside the standard working week, so some flexibility of hours will be required. The incubator services may be across a range of sites so travel between will be essential.

Due to funding resources we are recruiting for multiple Innovation Manager roles who will be involved in projects with a variety of healthcare partners. The roles are offered on a fixed term contract basis with a range of lengths.
