We have a full-time post (36.5 hours per week) available immediately on a permanent basis.
Summary of the role
The University’s library services underpin research and learning by providing extensive digital and physical academic information resources. Library assistants support this by ensuring that required resources are available for all to use on an equitable basis, helping to provide an excellent service to the whole academic community.
You will be an adaptable team worker and a fast learner, with good communication skills. A confident user of IT, you will be able to work independently and under pressure to a high standard of accuracy and to flourish in a rapidly changing information environment. With excellent customer service skills, you will be liaising with colleagues across the University to ensure the quality of this service. Familiarity with the HE information environment and with bibliographic data, acquired through work or study, will be an advantage.
The exact working pattern will by agreement between you and your line manager but in this post the likely hours are Monday 12 – 8, Tuesday 9 – 5.15, Wednesday 9 – 5.15, Thursday 9 – 5.15 and Sunday 10 – 6.
It could also involve working occasional Bank Holidays and University Closure Days.
