Job description
Do you want to play an instrumental part in the success of the University of Sheffield as a leading University for Knowledge Exchange (KE), Innovation and Impact? And do you have the skills required to grow the impact, partnerships and reputation of a research intensive University?
We are looking to appoint an Industry Account Manager within our exciting new Partnerships & KE Service, with a particular focus on growing and managing our institutional relationship with selected organisations and the University. Reporting into the Head of Major Projects and Partnerships, you will use your strong account management, commercial and interpersonal skills, and expert practical knowledge of sectors outside of academia, to build trusted relationships with external partners and facilitate a diverse range of research, education and innovation collaborations with our students and academics. These will result in year-on-year growth in income, impact and reputational benefit to the University – as well as create new value for our partners and support their strategic priorities.
You will preferably have knowledge of sectors relevant to engineering disciplines – such as manufacturing, infrastructure and energy – which are likely to be the initial focus for this role. However, we are open to any candidate with the right skills who can engage effectively with these sectors.
This exciting and strategic role will not only provide you with the opportunity to secure and coordinate multi-million-pound projects within a top 100 global university, but will also provide you with the chance to work across the whole University as well as build and lead thriving relationships with high profile organisations.
The University is committed to growing the Partnerships & KE Service which exists to facilitate academically-led partnerships, innovation and knowledge exchange activity to support the delivery of the University’s 5-Year Vision. We are looking for candidates with proven experience of leading diverse teams and working in collaboration across multiple partners, with the skills to build trusted and productive alliances with a range of parties.
We believe in the power of diversity to help us address big global challenges and aim to actively build diverse teams. We know that when people come together with different views, approaches, and insights it leads to richer, more creative, and innovative teaching and research, better understanding of student needs and aspirations and the highest level of student experience.
We are committed to enabling our employees to work in a hybrid model with flexibility over when, where and how to achieve the required outputs, in discussion with your manager. We are also committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
