Job description
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Medical Laboratory Assistant to work in PSS Department for our Laboratories in Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital, Southend University Hospital and our Hub in Bentalls.
You will be responsible for ensuring patient samples are efficiently and accurately booked in using our In-House Laboratory IT system, enabling the patient’s sample to be processed and results issued. We deal with blood and other human samples. This role is essential to the efficient working of the Laboratory and delivering test results for patients across South Essex.
The successful applicant will be expected to work as part of a team, have accurate and efficient data entry abilities, solid communication skills, a good degree of accuracy and numeracy as well as the ability to work in an organised manner. Our busy and demanding fast paced environment requires applicants to be able to concentrate for prolonged periods of time.
Our team work on a rota system, including weekends and various shift patterns depending upon each site. We have full and part time hours available with full comprehensive training and support given. As a company we offer 25 days annual leave per year on joining and a contributory pension.
Essential Skills and Experience
- 4 GCSE at Grade A-C or equivalent, including Maths and English.
- Proficient in typing
- Good degree of accuracy & numeracy
- One years experience of Excel (preferred)
