Report Commercial Director

Overview Support the Commercial Director on a range of matters concerning
commercial contracts and intellectual property.

Salary Package £50 - 65k pro rata depending on experience + benefits (access to global gold standard in leadership development and coach training programmes, pension) + generous company bonus scheme. Annual leave that increases with length of service. Two days paid volunteering days pro rata where you can donate your time to a charity of your choice.

Global Role

You will be responsible for an extraordinarily exciting time in the company’s history as we take on the world leaders in our sector.

As Legal Counsel, we would like you to be bring your expertise to:

· Support the Commercial Director on a range of matters concerning commercial contracts, including GDPR and intellectual property.

· Support our Senior Leadership Team in creating a strategy for the maintenance, development and retention of our existing and newly created IP.

· Provide sound legal advice to the business, in plain English and without jargon; sometimes working with external advisors. You will be comfortable flexing how you deliver your advice for different stakeholders.

· Leading the negotiations on contract working with our client’s legal teams to come to terms.

· Be comfortable to work autonomously, or as part of a team; bringing in outside counsel as appropriate and updating senior stakeholders on key points or issues.

· Updating and creating our own client/supplier contract templates across the different company divisions

About you:

· A lawyer (likely a UK qualified solicitor), with prior legal experience. Ideally someone with retail experience or in-house experience who has experience working with contracts and IP.

· Someone with strong academic results and great legal experience.

· Someone who is looking for flexible working hours that will both fit around your commitments and also support the business as the need arises.

· Solutions focused and analytical. You are excellent at seeing through a problem and finding a solution, with strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail. Able to manage deadlines and a complex workload, able to adjust pace or direction.

· A good communicator. With sound interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication, you can influence business stakeholders and develop strong relationships.

· Comfortable working in an international environments as diverse as the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. You are not expected to be an expert in the law of these regions, but to draw on your expertise and sound business sense to navigate them, liaising with external counsel where needed. Able to consider financial implications, risks, business impacts and working to a budget.

· Able to produce clear and concise advice or documents, be a good listener, be a collaborative team member and to offer leadership or ideas when required.

· Someone with integrity, professionalism and trustworthiness – essential for any lawyer.

You will be comfortable in multi-tasking, in questioning and finding solutions, advising and supporting colleagues from across the business.

Experience working with Fortune 500 businesses and the US market not essential but highly valued.
